I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (Jn 14:6) NIV
The sins committed by people each day are beyond counting. They are like the stars in the night sky. Multiply this amount by the number of days in a year and at least thousands of years of human history and the total boggles the mind. God is witnessing innumerable repulsive and rebellious acts until a judgment day prescribed by God the Father. Instead of becoming angry and punishing humanity, he chose to take on the punishment for the sins of humanity on the cross! This is why the Bible teaches that God is love and that mercy triumphs over judgment for those he has chosen. It is God’s love that motivates him to endure a season of evil. There will be an eternity of loving fellowship, joy, and honor for those who accept Jesus as their savior and king. Those who accept Jesus as their savior and king do so because God has chosen to give them the power (grace) to believe. Without this grace, humans are blind rebels who will suffer God’s wrath in hell. (Eph 2: 1-10) ??
Jesus said that he is the only way to be reconciled to God. This way required him to be humble, submissive, and obedient to God the Father. It required suffering and constant dependence upon the Father and communication with him. This communion was only broken once when the Father turned away from Jesus at the moment of his death on the cross.
Born-again Christians have been forgiven and reconciled to God because Jesus took their sin punishment. These people have been purchased by the suffering, sacrifice of Jesus in their place. The Bible teaches that these people are declared holy in God’s sight. They will be perfected at the resurrection into glorious creatures resembling Jesus. Jesus is the king of these people, and they are his servants called to live like him. This requires them to be humble, dependent, and obedient. This means they must follow his will and ways (This is what it means when Jesus said his disciples must take up their cross daily.)
The way planned by the Creator for the merger of the two earths is mysterious to the characters of the Dawn Herald Series. Devlin attempted to destroy humanity to prevent a prophecy that said his fall would be heralded by the appearance of the Sons of Light. This is reminiscent of the Bible story in which Satan attempted to corrupt humanity to prevent the birth of Jesus. In the Dawn Herald Series, a thousand years of peace followed Devlin’s failed attempt. This is like the present church age which has developed into an unprecedented time of prosperity. Like the Villagers of Downs End, people today are consumed by pleasures and power. Churches in America and Europe are closing because people are putting their faith in science and technology. Spiritual things are increasingly seen as superstitions. There is a popular view that the advancement of knowledge will eventually explain every mystery. There is a tendency to view those who hold to Christian and other religious beliefs are backward or uneducated people who need a crutch to help them through life.
The plan or way of the Creator are revealed through prophecies, sacred writings, and miraculous events. The meaning of ancient script carved into a large slab of rock in the library of Hadrian’s Keep baffle scholars until it is revealed gradually by the Creator. This is similar to the way God has progressively revealed truths through the writers of the Old and New Testaments. The way that the Sons of Light heralded the dawning of a new age was through their deaths. Jesus heralded a new age and the beginning of his kingdom on earth through his life, death and resurrection. The doom of Devlin and Satan both follow their military victories over those who are faithful to Jesus and the Creator. The resurrection of the faithful and their union with Jesus and the Creator in a new world are the final revelations of the way of salvation. Do you know the Way?
