The way to move forward in tough times.

The way to move forward in tough times.

“Kindness and compassion has more power in changing people than policies and procedures.” I posted this quote some time ago.

Today our country is facing the 3rd wave of COVID-19. I don’t believe anyone or any institute wanted to spread or put people or the country at risk. At different scales we all took actions to protect ourselves and others from the invisible virus. There could be mishaps and negligence – that is possible even with those who blame the victims. None of us or our policies, procedures and systems is perfect against this invisible virus. They are there to prevent and protect – yet it won’t guarantee zero risk – it will only minimize the risk. If we blame one, then we all are responsible too.

Accepting what has happened and taking actions together to control the effect and prevent potential risks is what is important to come out of the challenge in front of us. Yes, it’s our responsibility to point out what and where the lapses are. And that should be done with a positive mindset of serving others. What would blaming do? It’ll lead to frustration, division, hiding the truth and being self-defensive. Blaming or finding fault with others will spread negative vibes all around.

Today we see how some people and Social and Electronic media behave. They go beyond privacy and limits of individuals and institutions, and report impacted or affected people or communities. The question is: ‘In what way does it help to control and prevent potential risk?’ ‘Would that kind of media behavior encourage infected or potentially infected people to be honest, or to be open to expose them?’

This is the time to show our kindness and compassion to people who are impacted and are at risk and authorities who are working tirelessly to control and prevent potential risk. This is the time to acknowledge and accept all of them, because they all are human too.

Policies, procedures and systems will help to manage the issue. Our kindness and compassion towards people will create trust and closeness among people, among communities. That will keep us together as one family, one community and one nation. That will create a safe space for people to be vulnerable or expose their privacy. When we spread kindness and compassion, empathy emerges and that is the way to move forward in tough times – like this.
