Waving Goodbye to the Monday Blues.

"How are you?" - "It's Monday".

It often feels like we live our best lives in the weekend and then go back to reality on Monday. Yet why is that?

Max & Teddy

My life has evolved from giving the above answer after about 5 cups of coffee, to waking up with these two furry alarm clocks, giving me a gentle lick on the face at 6 am sharp. I've established a fixed routine that kicks off with a morning walk and a cup of tea (you can take a girl out of England but...) , all while listening to my favourite music.

As you can see, Max and Teddy then go back to sleep while I dive into my work.

Being part of a start-up means that every day brings new challenges and evolving priorities, and I absolutely love it. I believe it was Simon Sinek who interviewed nurses and hospital staff for his book "Leaders Eat Last," and discovered that those who loved their workplace saw each and every task they performed as contributing to the well-being of their patients - whether it was administering medication, cleaning up rooms and patients. On the other hand, those who felt unhappy in their workplace didn't share the same perspective. They looked at their jobs and tasks very differently and the level of execution was.. you guessed it: significantly lower.

?

Now, I no longer dread Mondays; and to my two furry friends it's a day like any day.

I'd love to say "find a job you love and you never have to work a day in your life" but that's terribly cliche and probably also not completely true. I'd love to be a country singer but I'm tone deaf so that probably won't work out.

Yet it you were to ask my two pence on this: find a company that shares your values, that has a mission you genuinely believe in, and a job that will give you satisfaction. Don't look at the one that pays higher than the others, with the most holidays or the best goodies. None of that matters on a rainy Monday like today.

Trust me.

?

So, if you were to ask me how I am today, I'd say:

Mighty fine, thank you.
