Waves of the Ocean

Waves of the Ocean

Waves of the ocean constantly beat on the shore and bring in something new for constant change. It can sweep out parts of the shore ever changing its appearance and structure.

I was the shore, just laying there taking it. I felt I didn't have a choice except to be pushed around and shaped by the tides of life. Little by little I got off the shore and into the water. I just kept treading the water of the waves and at one point was sucked out to sea and almost drowned! It was almost a relief of not having to deal with the waves anymore. A selfish peace that only I could enjoy or explain. Looking onto the shore, I could see my kids wandering around frightened and lost. Keep playing sweet babies. Look away from the ocean! Don't come in!!

Slowly, I drifted back to them. They, along with God, pulled me out of the waves. After lying on the beach for what seemed like an eternity, I dried myself off and started preparing a safe place away from the tide. This worked for a while. Storm after storm pushed the tide in so further and further I had to push back to keep the waves from reaching me. This was tiresome work. My life revolved around watching the waves and doing what was needed in order for them not to reach me and suck me back out again.

Eventually, I was far back enough and I quit fighting the tide. I started building a sand castle! I made sure to pack the sand firm enough for a steady foundation and never losing sight of the waves that can wipe it out, sandcastle and all.

The sandcastle has grown over the years and has spread a good distance along the beach. I'm glad to live on the shore side of the beach where I can feel the wind in my face, the warmth of the sun and even enjoy the seagulls flying around. I've learned that its okay to swim in the glorious ocean of life, but that I need to constantly tread the water in order to stay afloat.

Our lives are like the shore along a beach. We are constantly changing. Sometimes it can form us into something we never thought we would be!

Life is like a box of chocolates. Oh wait, that one is taken. Life is a WIP, we are in constant evolution with our experiences, both good and bad molding us into who we are. I have learned far more from the bad things that have happened or mistakes I have made than the good things. Obstacles come in all sizes. Pebbles are easy to overcome. Rocks present more challenges but should be overcome with some effort. Boulders are the real challenge. They require a team working as one. When you have a team that work well together for the common good, no boulder will get in your way. This applies in life and work. When you think it is all about you and you don’t develop a strong team around you, boulders may become impossible to get around. Others will then surpass you. So evolve into the best you can be and remember it can and will be best with a strong team.

I actually was able to visualize you in the beach Lesley Mouton! Treading water is the key, isn't it??? Once we let the fear/panic subside, we can get ourselves back home to safety.
