Waves of Change Coalition is an annual 2-days forum in Biarritz to collaborate on the most significant challenges humanity faces.??
Not everyone from my community could make it, so I wanted to share with you the key insights that could be useful for your impact venture and give you some valuable contacts of other impacters.
The past 2 days were some of the most intense and inspiring since I started my ecopreneurship journey.?
The event was a true eye-opener and gave me massive energy to continue down my path to make this planet wilder.?
It was a great mix of keynotes, collaborative workshops, panel discussions, connection breaks, offsites, relaxation, pitches, and co.?
?? My main takeaways that can be useful for your impact venture
Until this event, I completely ignored the government's needs. I always thought they would be too difficult to reach and too hard to work with.?
A clear mistake on my behalf.?
Governments, like businesses and NGOs, face multiple challenges they can't master alone. This is where you can come in.?
Some example challenges from the cities that came to the event: water pollution, erosion, climate change protection, energy transition, mobility transition, biodiversity loss etc.?
?? What you can do: So observe and listen to the problems, and you might make a strong ally for your cause.?
2. Education not exclusively for kids
In many panels and workshops, educating our kids was highlighted as one of the significant actions to improve this planet.?
This is a point I disagree with for 3 reasons:?
So regarding education and awareness, I favor finding solutions for grown-ups.?Part of the reason why I founded Wildya .
?? What you can do: A big job of impacters is to raise awareness. So whatever you work on, make time to educate and raise awareness of grown-ups through social media, events & co.
3. Strength of a community
I tend to put pressure, work & co. on my shoulders. So naturally, I didn't explore enough about how communities can change the world.?
At the event, I heard more about the incredible job the community did to create the?Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary?
This ambitious project was an entirely bottom-up approach, and they pulled it off.?
?? What you can do: If you truly care about your cause, involve your local community. You will get much further. Go from door to door, host local events etc.
4. Collaboration
We currently face multiple crises, and none of us can fix them alone. So let's work together. At the event, we went beyond just connecting with prospects. We actively mingled to see how each impact venture could help the other.?
?? What you can do:?There is plenty of space for coexistence. See if you can ally with other partners to accomplish even bigger goals. Speak with everyone, no matter if it directly benefits you or not. There is usually always a positive outcome.?
5. Moonshot?
Waves of Change Coalition and Ocean As Common hosted 3 workshops to discuss the creation of a marine sanctuary here in the Basque country. Our bay used to be one of the most biodiverse regions in the world, with many whales.?
Commercial whaling and plenty of other mistakes down the road destroyed it.?
In the past few days, we dreamed big to see how to reverse this.??
?? What you can do:?Dream big. It can be the north star that rallies people behind you. From there, take concrete actions to realize this dream step by step.?
6. Low tech
The best solutions don't always need to be fancy and high-tech. Sometimes the answers are right in front of our eyes and can be created with small investments.?
In the past few days, I heard many genius ideas that can change the world and don't cost much to realize.?
?? What you can do:?Don't be intimidated by all the fancy tech. Reflect on what is truly needed to solve the pain that you see. Don't let this be a barrier that blocks you.
??♂? Inspiring Impacters
I met so many inspiring people I probably forgot some. So sorry in advance.?
I categorized these inspiring impacters for you so you can quickly find those you want to connect with.?
They all work on intersections and tackle many problems simultaneously, but I took the area that made the most sense to me.?
(Impacters, if you want me to put you in another category, just write me a PM ?? )
