Welcome to Orlando Business Journal's LinkedIn newsletter. I'm Associate Managing Editor Steven Ryzewski, rounding up business news to keep you in the know when time is short.
Two weeks ago, our annual Doing Business in Downtown Orlando edition took a look at the more than $1 billion in investment in store for the city's urban core and how transformational it promises to be.
It seems for some downtown businesses that investment will come too late, however, as Orlando Business Journal's Sarah Kinbar was first to confirm a wave of bar and nightclub closings in the district — including longtime establishments like Ember and Chillers.

2 个月I think they could have came to more of an agreement to allow those clubs to get low and long term leases on a new entertainment area they're going to put by the Kia center. This is not honoring small business. At the same time they could have been developing more daytime activities downtown with all the abandoned buildings or underutilized buildings downtown. Why not have a skating rink, laser tag, escape rooms, indoor paintball, arcades, and other unique offerings. People don't want to go to I-Drive to have a good time or Downtown Disney or Universal or Epic Universe eventually, if you live downtown and north of that. Thank goodness for Mills 50 and other local areas that people can patronize. This is why Sunrail also needs to be 24/7 as well as Lynx in partnership with ride sharing if you're going to limit our options. This is also why we need mass transit that goes east and west along with rural areas for events, work, and recreation instead a million toll roads. Local matters. We all know that tourism is a part of life here.

2 个月Wow seems like Downtown Orlando is committing to more family friendly concepts I’d say with the recent blow to night clubs. Who would I talk to about a clean family friendly idea downtown?
