Watson: From Game Show to Cancer +

Watson: From Game Show to Cancer +

From game shows to cancer. A system that can read a million books per minute. How do you deal with 8,000 new research papers per day and the complexities of dealing with Cancer. The 60 minutes session last night opens the idea of how Watson can be used for specific tasks including research, but there are so many other areas.

If you have interest in where AI is today and projects that are in process across a multitude of vendors - this 60 Minutes session is eye opening.

It was particularly interesting to hear the physicians tell 60 minutes how they appreciate Watson's role in assisting them, and the real difference it makes to diagnostics and treatment... Fun to have the example of Watson doing the 'fast reading' and serving up information they can use and would not have time to develop/read on their own as individuals!

It appears general a.i. is not in our near future but there have been some great steps forward in specific a.i. such as Watson. I see using Watson or a system like it to help physicians diagnose diseases and such with a higher degree of accuracy a very real possibility.

Saw this on 60 minutes yesterday. Awesome!
