Watering Our Practice
Lama Rod Owens
Buddhist Minister, Author, Activist, Yoga Instructor, Authorized Lama, Queen
Dear?Friends,
Connecting with land and earth is a way of tuning into our own nature. Aligning with indigenous traditions – from Turtle Island to Africa to Asia and beyond – reminds us that?light is emerging as we sit in winter’s dark. Spring is calling to us, even before we see it. The seeds that we've planted are breaking open to root and stretching their way up into sprouts. As they emerge, we water and tend the soil.? ?
When we allow deep rest for our bodies, we honor ourselves as extensions of earth. When we engage in consistent practice, we are watering this earth to cultivate fertile ground. It is this commitment to resourcing our needs in diverse and bountiful ways that will support our work towards liberation.? ?
Many of us recognize that more werk is being asked of us as we move through this apocalypse. In the spirit of nourished and rich soil, I am offering more ongoing opportunities to practice in community and deepen our werk individually and collectively.? ?
I will soon begin monthly gatherings such as Blessed Slay: Embodying the Fire of the Kagyu Lineage and Sunday Service for the New Saints. My Seven Homecomings Certification Course is returning for a second time to support teachers, facilitators, healers, and community leaders in resourcing themselves and their communities with the practice of homecoming in times of fear and uncertainty. ?
Through tending these seeds of practice, my intention is to cultivate the conditions for liberation for all.?
Love,?
Lama Rod?
As we honor Black History and Futures this month while also attuning to the season’s wisdom reflected in indigenous traditions around the world, I invite you to participate in the continued resourcing and watering of our practice by offering a donation in support of this werk and/or joining one of my donation-based offerings.? Whichever ways you choose to participate while honoring your capacity to give, I recognize your presence and value this energy exchange. Now is a time where collective resourcing is essential.
