Waterholes - essential for life in the jungle
Tigers4Ever
Giving wild tigers a wild future Conservation charity based in the UK, working in Bandhavgarh, India
Our work in Bandhavgarh, India provides permanent water at 19 waterholes for tigers and other wildlife, through 13 solar powered borewell pump systems. The borewells access underground sources to provide year-round wildlife water where there would otherwise be none.
We’re currently working on our next two solar-pump systems which will bring the number of Tigers4Ever waterholes to 21.
Creating waterholes is a complex and expensive process. The photo above shows the elephant-proofed pillars which we will mount the solar panels on. Elephants often destroy waterhole pumping equipment, so it’s important to make these as elephant-proof as possible.
Over 100 individual tigers have benefited from Tigers4Ever waterholes since we started this project in 2017. These waterholes help to reduce human-animal conflict in nearby villages, drawing tigers away from shared water sources and helping tiger prey congregate away from livestock. Your donations will help us to reduce human-animal conflict and save many animals via the provision of year-round water in even more locations.
