Waterfall Model

The Waterfall Model is a model in which the software development process proceeds in a linear and sequential manner. In this model, the previous stages must be completed before things move on to the next stage. Its key elements are:

• Phases: The Waterfall Model includes specific phases: requirements identification, design, coding, testing, and maintenance. Each stage is separated from the previous one and is irreversible as things progress.
• Certification: At the end of each phase, it is important to document the results and requirements of that phase. This is necessary to create references in the later stages and to facilitate change management.
