Waterfall Gully to Mount Lofty Summit Trail Restoration
Thinking of walking the Waterfall Gully to Mt Lofty Summit Trail this weekend but wondering about the restoration work underway on the track? We have good news - detours are only in place on weekdays (weekends remain unaffected), so your heart can rest a little easier.
Following the September 2016 storms, which brought large rainfall and caused extensive damage to the trail, FMG Engineering was brought in in by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources to conduct a rapid risk assessment of the trail and together with Oxigen Landscape Architects + Urban Designers, has developed the design of the restoration works for the trail. During the design and restoration period, FMG have been keeping an eye on the track to observe and react to any further changes/damage to the trail and manage the risk. Restoration work will include exposed aggregate concrete surfacing, elevated boardwalks, and erosion mitigation measures within the watercourse, making for a better trail and a more enjoyable experience for walkers.
