This year has been a bumpy start for a lot of water companies, whether it's recurring headlines of financial mismanagement or additional pressures caused by sudden extreme weather. Water companies have a lot to gain by being more open, not only from an interal perspective - identifying their own efficiencies, finding ways to make improvements - but also as a way to better engage with and understand their customers.
Yorkshire Water joined ODI Leeds at the start of 2018 with the ambitious goal of publishing more data as open data and adopting an 'open by default' approach by 2020. After a session in March with a captive audience, several themes and potential directions were identified, namely real-time asset management, understanding water usage more, and engaging with customers.
We'd like to invite you to #WaterData18 - a two-day innovative hackathon to work with Yorkshire Water data. Whatever your involvement or interest in water and/or data, we want to see and hear from you!
#WaterData18 will have a similar format to our previous innovation events;
If you are a Team or an Individual it doesn't matter, we'll make sure that you create and are involved and it will be fun!
