Steps forward in tackling todays water challenges:

SUEZ secures three water projects across Asia.

At the Singapore International Water Week which we covered last week, SUEZ announced the launch of three significant projects in Asia. The projects are in a variety of locations including Singapore, China, and the Philippines, and reinforce the company’s mission in addressing todays water challenges; utilizing todays digital innovations, desalination, and water reuse technologies to combat he critical issues of the current climate.

In more depth, Singapore will see an Advanced Smart Water Grid Analytics Platform that will enhance PUB’s operational efficiency and resilience. To carry this out, SUEZ has been contracted by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, and the platform will be used in detecting and localising water quality and pressure issues within the network, running accurate simulations, and suggesting necessary remedial actions to aid in decision-making!

In action, PUB will gain improved visibility of the network conditions, enabling them to formulate a more global network management strategy and therefore optimising its operations and minimising inconvenience to its customers.

Moreover, a desalination plant will be designed and built in the Philippines to combat the regions critical drinking water storage. SUEZ and JEMCO will be partnering to bring the large-scale seawater reverse osmosis plant to life which will eventually supply fresh drinking water to nearly 50,000 households.

Lastly, in China, SUEZ and Shandong Public are extending their partnership to invest, build and operate an industrial water treatment plant in Jining New Materials Industrial Park. The project will turn high-salinity wastewater into industrial water to supply the companies within the park, aiming to achieve 100% wastewater recycling. The new wastewater treatment plant will be able to produce approximately 3.6 million cubic meters of alternative water each year, aiding the Park’s ambition to achieve green, low-carbon and high-quality development as one of the top 20 chemical industrial parks in China.

In more news from Singapore International Water Week, Saudi Water Partnership Company ?????? ???????? ??????? ?????? highlighted their increasing sustainability efforts. CEO of SWPC Khaled Alqureshi , addressed SWPC’s initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and transitioning to a net-zero future; a great example of leading water companies adapting and using eco-friendly technologies.

Smart Water News by George Asher - Reinforcing the value of AI

Atlanta has declared a state of emergency due to pipes breaking throughout the region. This week, Atlanta remains under a state of emergency as it continues to battle disruptions to its water service, leaving a swath of a major city under boil-water advisories. The large water main break has left parts of the city’s downtown district without water and prompted a major hospital to transfer patients elsewhere.

The breaks and repairs in progress have left parts of the city without water or under boil water advisories, forcing businesses and tourist attractions to shut down.

Because of this, Atlanta are set to use AI tools to detect water main breaks in its ageing infrastructure in the future.

The city plans to install AI-enhanced devices on water line valves to detect and prevent breaks, and the new technology will be deployed at the locations at the most recent breaks to help provide early warnings and maintain water infrastructure more effectively in the future. By partnering with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and assembling an expert panel, the city aims to develop a robust strategy for maintaining and upgrading its water infrastructure, ultimately ensuring reliable access to clean water for all residents.

We are all concerned about the quality of water. There is a new Oil Absorbent Float made by Oil Hungry Inc. in Canada that helps absorb any oil or any hydrocarbon from the water surface, leaving it pristine. It is important that people related to processing water know about this new technology.
