The American Water Works Association ACE24 took place last week, and the three-day trade show event invited water sector professionals together to learn, connect and feel inspired to solve today’s global water challenges.

Highlighting and congratulating some of the 2024 Award Winners

A.P Black Research Award – This award recognises outstanding research and contributions to water science and water supply rendered over an appreciable period of time.

Darren Lytle , an environmental engineer for the Water Infrastructure Division of the US Environmental Protection Agency's Center for Environmental Solutions and Emergency Response, took the award this year. Since beginning work at EPA in 1991, Darren’s primary goal has been to research the quality of drinking water. His work has showcased information on drinking water systems, including work on distribution system corrosion control and water quality, filtration, and biological water treatment.

Abel Wolman Award of Excellence - This award recognises the careers in the water works industry that exemplify vision, creativity, and excellent professional performance characteristics of Abel Wolman’s long and and productive career.

Robert Cheng was awarded the 2024 award.

Distinguished Public Service Award was handed to Ted Henifin , which congratulates those who have continues to provide distinguished public service outside the line of duty by an AWWA member .

Volunteer of the Year Award - Colin Chung ; the award honoured immense volunteer time and efforts and support to AWWA staff.

Singapore International Water Week

The 10th edition of SIWW is taking place this week, and the five-day event is bringing together thought leaders, experts and practitioners from governments, utilities, academia and industry together to share and co-create innovative solutions to meet with the most pressing urban water challenges.

The event is one of the world’s premier platforms to share and co-create innovative water, coastal and flood solutions to meet urban water and climate challenges.

Two of the many Utility Leaders attending are:

Khaled Alqureshi - CEO of Saudi Water Partnership Company

Paul Arnold - CEO of Queensland Urban Utilities Australia

Partners also include Australian Water Association and Water Environment Federation .
