Water Week 2023
In celebration of?Water Week in 2023, we're recognizing projects that address water issues with science-based solutions to make critical water infrastructure more resilient.
Water Crossing Design
Dudek supported the?Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians?on the Indian Canyons Infrastructure Improvements project. Work included new bridges at the Murray Canyon and Andreas Canyon wash crossings to replace low water crossings that were in disrepair, resulting in frequent road closures due to debris accumulation in undersized culverts. The recent spate of winter weather across California provided a great opportunity for our civil engineers and hydrologists to see how our designs perform and the newly constructed bridges in Indian Canyon are handling the recent storm events well!???
Industrial Water Treatment
Especially in areas dealing with long-term drought conditions, there is increased regulatory pressure to reduce water use at industrial and commercial facilities. Dudek helps clients identify opportunities for?water use reduction, water reuse, and water recycling?within facility operations to implement successful sustainable water use management programs Using a methodical, engineered approach we help clients develop of a comprehensive and accurate water balance and identify water quality requirements for facility equipment?Learn more about our industrial water and wastewater management capabilities.

Well Drilling
Dudek’s licensed geologists and hydrogeologists provided?well design, field oversight and prepared completion reports?for the Brownfield Border Patrol Station project located in Dulzura, California. Water supply for the new station will be provided by on-site groundwater wells. Our hydrogeologists worked with the?Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Border Patrol, Straub Construction Inc., and Stehly Brothers Drilling Inc.?team to successfully design, drill, and test an on-site well drilled in the fractured bedrock aquifer. Dudek provided well design recommendations based on borehole lithology and drilling logs and designed and oversaw the construction, production testing and water quality testing, per California Division of Drinking Water and Title 22 standards.?Learn more about our well design and construction services.
Regulatory Permitting
Dudek is conducting a Raw Water Intake Bypass Flow Study in the Los Gatos Creek and Saratoga Creek watersheds. This multi-year study combines?biological assessment, watershed hydrology, and hydraulic modeling?to determine bypass flow targets sufficient to support sensitive species, per CDFW regulatory requirements. Our permitting specialists, hydrologists, aquatic and wildlife biologists, and engineers are working closely with San Jose Water Company and CDFW to successfully permit the water diversion structures and increase the long-term viability of target species’ habitat.
