Water Towers
CRL Surveys
An International Service for the Survey, Inspection, and Investigation of all types of Structure and Building
I must be weird; my kids have told me so for years.? I like concrete structures, especially those that have been designed with care.? The fact that many have not been built properly, a fact of life that has given me a career, is by the by.
Some of the nicest structures I have had the pleasure of working on are water towers, and to reinforce the weirdo label ?I found and bought a book recently “Water Towers of Britain” by Barry Barton.? This contains extensive regional maps with the locations of most towers.? Water Tower spotting anyone?
Water towers stand out in the landscape, with many designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, with a seemingly unlimited array of, age related, styles.? They don’t build them like this anymore:
Above are just a few we have worked on, undertaking preliminary Inspection, RAG rating and annual monitoring, full Condition Surveys, Structural Investigations comprising both NDT and intrusive investigations for roof capacity checks (for antenna loadings), 'make-safe' surveys, and on one of the above we have installed and manage a bespoke and discreet debris/ safety netting system.
We also undertake internal, confined space entry inspections of the tanks, with some worrying surprises encountered along the way.
And to finish, a cautionary note:

3 个月Got to love a water tower! I enjoyed my spell on the RAF bases repairing and waterproofing them. Seen a few on grand designs converted to residential that are impressive, even though i love concrete don’t think i could go that far to live inside one!
