I want to talk to you about something that's SUPER important that I did not do for 21 years when I was a teacher because I really wasn't educated around the importance of hydrating yourself.
It’s something that's super important for our health, and very important for our immune system because it actually helps strengthen our immune system and that is being hydrated with water.
Many of us have heard we need to drink our eight glasses of water but we don't necessarily understand WHY. Water does a lot of things to help your body function better.
Here are a few reasons why we want to drink water:
??It helps flush out toxins in your body
??It keeps everything flowing and helps lubricate your joints and your muscles
??It actually helps all your cells communicate. All the communication that goes on in your body is through water, the saltwater that's in your cells, and so it's really important to stay hydrated.
As I mentioned earlier, for 21 years as a teacher I did not stay hydrated. I have NO idea how my body functioned. This probably explains why I was always irritated and critical.
How can you get your water in? One thing that I started doing is filling a big jug with 64 ounces of water each day. Sixty-four ounces is a good place to start or half your body weight in ounces. Every morning I fill up my jar. I actually add a little bit of Himalayan salt to it, and you can add a little bit of lemon juice if you want as well.
I know throughout the day that I need to drink this so it's a great way of tracking. If I'm halfway through the day and I haven't touched it I know that I need to get up and drink my water. When I go out, I have little glass jar jars that I put the water in. Glass bottles actually is what I use, but get some fun water bottles.
You can also fill up your water bottles the night before, stick them in the fridge if you want them a little cooler. Prepping them ahead of time can be a big help especially if you work.
Are you drinking enough water and did you realize that it helps strengthen your immune system? Water does lots of things for the body but that's just a few tips for today. I’d love to hear how you're doing on your water intake. Do you struggle to drink enough?
