Water dispensers getting to grips with touchless technology

In recent weeks we have shared information about various ways vending, and coffee machine manufacturers are responding to new workplace demands. They have been quick to bring solutions to the market designed to make people safer and reduce the risk of spreading viruses.  

Some of these solutions have been available for some time, and manufacturers have also accelerated R&D projects to make them available sooner rather than later.  

Although not strictly speaking a vending manufacturer, water dispensing leader, Borg & Overstrom are also bringing excellent solutions to reduce touchpoints. They have developed an App that allows the user to select what they want from the water dispenser, thus creating a genuinely touchless experience. The video below demonstrates how you can interact with any of the dispensers in their B3 and B4 ranges.

Additionally, Borg & Overstrom has developed a foot-controlled option that removes the need to touch the dispenser. This option is also available on all new B3 and B4 models, and it can be retrofitted to existing machines in these ranges.

We believe the efforts and creativity shown by vending and dispensing manufacturers have been admirable; they genuinely are changing the way we interact with technology that surrounds us. This includes the innovative use of protective materials to create safer contact such as SafeTouch, to completely touchless screens like Coffeetek’s AirTouch . 

Of course, it is still the best advice to adhere to a regular and diligent cleaning regime.
