Watching the world implode!

You may well have heard the term "we are being sold a lie", so if that is true, and there is evidence to strongly suggest that it is, then why do so many people seem to believe everything they hear on the radio/TV or that they read in the tabloid newspapers?

We are constantly being told that prices around us are rising "because of the war in Ukraine" and that striking workers cannot be paid more because "there is no money available". Yet we then hear about extreme sums of money being spent and often wasted, by the UK government in 'other' areas, (think PPE for example) so where exactly is THAT money coming from?

There have been rumours for some years that the treasury 'pot' of National Insurance contributions, has been raided by the government on numerous occasions. This money is paid to help fund the NHS and DWP, so why and where are these funds allegedly being redirected?

Cronyism seems rife, with government contracts often, allegedly, being awarded to people a little too close to the politicians involved! Then there are, again allegedly, knighthoods given to political party 'donors'!

When I owned and ran Glastonbury Radio some years ago, I subscribed to press releases from 10 Downing Street and I honestly could not believe how I was seeing them the next morning, printed word for word in many news publications. No editing, no apparent research or investigative journalism, just the government 'spin' being put in front of their readers! This isn't NEWS, this is government propaganda being direct-fed as news :(

This particular government, have used catchy phrases in their press releases and statements that they know all too well, the public will repeat. You will be familiar with many such as "supporting hard working families", "a drain on the taxpayer", "benefit scroungers" and the "entitlement culture". I even once heard my own daughter repeating some of these word for word in conversation. After the infamous Boris Johnson's antics, how many times did we hear the words in radio talk shows... "it's time to move on"?

When I studied for my law degree, I also studied 'Parliamentary supremacy' and how it affects our day to day lives. In one research article I was somewhat surprised to read some of the things that leading politicians consider as 'standard' ways to deal with masses, such as 'divide and conquer' techniques (we saw these used with venom in the campaign against Jeremy Corbyn, who was seen as a massive threat to their 'norm') More recently, we have seen this same method used to try (unsuccessfully) to bring down union leader Mick Lynch!

Another well used term in political and financial circles is "own the debt and you control the person/business", just think about that for a moment.... Do you have debts, credit cards, loans? As we are speedily pushed towards a cashless society, the powers that be, will have full control over your money and debt, as a result of which, they will be able to close you down at the press of a button!

We are also led to believe that everyone should strive to own their own home, so they have 'assets' that they can pass down the line to future generations, but, this is probably the largest of all debts you will have in your entire life. Many have lost their homes due to bank or building society repossesions, I lost mine at my divorce hearing, because of a very poor piece of legal representation and a judge with some seemingly extreme views! Having only a few years left on my mortgage made this an even worse experience, as that was to be my pension! (Don't get me started on the state of pensions in the UK!)

Then of course, there is that over-used word GROWTH.

Both main parties agree that we must have growth to boost the economy and avoid a recession, but is degrowth actually a better long term resolution into a new brighter future? There are certainly many big-thinkers, who believe 'growth' is the main cause of pollution, debt, corruption, greed and the destruction of the planet! In short, growth could be described as the scam of the century!

Finally, have you ever noticed how all governments in first world countries, repeat the same phrases and words in their statements? Hmmm

The world is slowly imploding and meanwhile, the majority of the population are happy to just sit back and enjoy reality TV shows, while it happens around them.

I hope today's article does, at the very least, make you think.
