A manager at pharmaceutical company has talked with sales supervisor about upcoming meeting with upper management and he supposed to present a business review, the manager stressed on this meeting importance and tell him that his business review will determine his future at this company where to be promoted or will down grade his situation!

What a threatening trigger that transmitted to this supervisor , he has started overthinking and emotionally triggered , feeling anxious which affect his sleep and eating habits , keep editing his slides , asking seniors for advises , collecting many references, practicing roleplays , thinking about different future scenarios; what if I failed can I find another job , he speaks with him self , you can certainly say that he overwhelmed and his attention is fully moving toward accommodating with this trigger consequently? he was losing this attention on his current job and duties manifested in his frequent absenteeism ,? postponed his meeting with important clients,? being judgmental with his subordinates and reactive in his attitude, blaming others which definitely reflected on his subordinates wellbeing, motivation and their productivity

A manager is playing a vital role on attention level of their people and being focus. We have to know that triggers at the environment will always pulling our attention to their side like a gravitational force and become out of balance – depending on the strengths of the triggers, in above case if the manager give a moderate trigger effect and don’t raise a threating alarm to the sales supervisor, he will effectively can manage his attention level and give a right balance between his job duties and doing a business review at the same time

An employee either a manager or not should be aware of these triggers and how he responds to them if come from manager, colleague, customer or some events that running Infront of his eyes and resist these gravitational forces. Keep in mind that our attention is easily distracted and move to different ways which keep us less aware of our habits at workplace, for example if you are an expressing person and you overdoing this that means your attention is moving toward this action making you out of balance and losing your attention on active listening action lets clearly say that overdoing being kind with people will affect your business orientation and overdoing your analysis thinking will affect your acting decisively and there are many examples you can identify depending on asking yourself ; where is my attention is moving toward !!

For change and overcoming these gravitational forces that pulling your attention toward, you need to acquire enough energy to get back to your balance state. And there is the only way to keep enough energy is not simple not to lose it! how! By active relaxation, you have to relax your muscles – we don’t need unnecessary tension and contraction, also overcoming unwanted thoughts, and this is can attain by putting a plan and setting objectives for yourself, for un wanted emotion the best way to pull the attention into your body sensation and breathing

Being conscious of your attention – which followed by energy will be a very helpful tool to manage different forces affecting your attention and establishing opposing habits can resist these gravitational forces and retain you to balance state and demonstrating your potential within your environment
