Looking Back As We Celebrate Ten Years of TDi Sustainability

Over the coming months, we will be taking a look back at some of the key projects we’ve been involved with over the last decade and launching new initiatives. Here are some of the highlights:

1. We first started working with Fairphone in 2017, when we were commissioned to review 38 materials found in the Fairphone 2 to gain a better understanding of the social and environmental sustainability issues associated with each material, and identify the opportunities for improvements.

2. TDi collaborated with the National Mining Association (NMA) between 2020-2022, to support the development of, and co-facilitate, a Sustainability Task Force. The purpose of the collaboration was to assist NMA members in exploring and advancing sustainability initiatives in their respective companies.

Please get in touch with TDi to find out how we can help you to understand the risks and opportunities associated with the materials in your supply chains.

Legislation Updates

  • France: France was the first EU member state to transpose the CSRD into its national legislation fully. The French ordinance mandates large listed companies to publish detailed sustainability reports from 2025, covering the financial year starting 1 January 2024. This implementation will be phased to include all large companies and listed SMEs by 2026.
  • Ireland: Ireland has transposed the CSRD and brought it into operation on 6 July 2024. The transposition includes detailed provisions for the scope, content, and assurance of sustainability reporting.
  • Italy: A draft law to transpose CSRD has been submitted to the Italian Parliament, and a public consultation process has been launched by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
  • Germany: The first draft legislation has been published, but the final adoption is still pending. Germany is expected to finalise the transposition by the end of 2024.
  • Luxembourg: Luxembourg introduced a draft bill to transpose the CSRD into national law on 29 March 2024. The draft bill proposes amendments to several laws regulating the accounting and reporting obligations of Luxembourg companies.
