Approximately 1000 tonnes of food is wasted each year across India.
Recently a new bill was introduced.
A new italian law forces supermarkets to donate unsold food to the needy. The new law incentivizes the business by reducing the waste tax for the amount of food they give away.In italy 22% food ends up in trash. In a country like india the food the ends up in trash is more.the food currently wasted could feedd 200 million people.
its time for india to adopt this model, since we rank very high in food wastage.A bill like this will get the support of all parties.just think how many people in india are insecure about their food and how much is wasted across super markets.
