Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma did everything he could to help team India win the World Cup. Under his leadership, India won 10 consecutive matches and sealed their place in the final. The Indian captain led the way with the bat. He was outstanding throughout the tournament. Giving quick starts became a norm and set the foundation for big scores.?
Rohit Sharma’s aggressive starts also helped the middle-order to play their natural game as it took the pressure off their shoulders. In the final against Australia, the skipper yet again gave the team a solid start. Despite Shubman Gill getting out early, Sharma fired on all cylinders and tore apart Australia’s fast bowling attack.?
However, in a bid to play shots one too many, Rohit Sharma lost his wicket after playing a handy knock of 47 runs in 31 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Following the departure of Rohit Sharma, boundaries dried up and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. India, eventually, was bowled out for just 240 runs on the board. When they were batting, I thought they were stitching a good partnership there and then we just needed to bat as long as possible. We were looking at 270-280 at that point, but then we kept losing wickets. We couldn't stitch a big partnership there, and that's exactly what Australia did to win the game. They stitched a big partnership after three [early] wickets." Rohit added.?
