BY MAGGIE| WASNJ Head of Academic Enrichment
Last month, all lower school students went to the FIRST Outdoor Education Trip. There were TWO locations for G4 to G6 students, Nanbeihu or Moganshan, for 4 days 3 nights. G1 to G3 students was 2 days 1 night in Nanjing. It was a great success with the students able to experience nature to the fullest and had opportunities to learn and practice skills outside the boundaries of a normal class.?
For G4 to G6 students, it was a week of adventure activities such as rock climbing and rope course challenge. Activities was challenging for some that are afraid of heights, but the students were given safety instructions on how to climb safely, but they were able to give it a try with the help and encouragement from their friends and teachers.
During the hike, the students were able to see various species of birds and animals in a beautiful scenic area. The hike was exhausting, but students were able to help and encourage each other to complete the trail. They learned about the importance of the teamwork and persistence.
The trip was inspiring, students had a great time bonding with classmates and making new friendships. They returned with happy memories and gained real life experience that will stay with them forever.?
See you all in 2024!

Camping has always been an adventurous activity in every school. This term, our students from Grades 1 to 3 had the opportunity to venture beyond their normal routine, which included a pleasant overnight stay near the forested outskirts of the city!
During this 2-day camp, everyone was offered to stay in tents overnight, and aside from that, the camp featured additional enjoyments such as team-building games, making nature-based art, making desserts, and sleeping with friends inside their warm, cozy tents.
And the highlight? Of course, it's the HIKING! The beauty of the forest and the lake were amazing! From this camping trip, students learned a lot, but above all, that the natural world has a lot to offer and that plenty of entertainment can be found in exploring nature.?

This four-day and three-night activities in the South Lake, let me feel impressed, and indeed learned a lot of things. In addition to using a compass needle and kayaking, there are many life skills in the wilderness. At the same time, also let me see different scenery from the city, but also broaden my vision.
Of course, in the process of expansion, we also experienced difficulties that we had not experienced before. Like a night camping in the wilderness, with the sound of insects and frogs; Like using simple cookware and cooking your own pasta; Like a 7km hike with some sudden light rain... Everyone learned a lot from it, and many students took the opportunity to make up for some shortcomings. I like the extension activities organized by the school, which can make us grow and gain something.

My favorite thing during the trip was rock climbing. It was interesting but made me tired. I don't care about it of course. When I reached the view highest rock, I looked down and was surprised to see the beautiful view: green, gigantic mountains, blue sky with fluffy, white clouds on it, little houses on the field. It was so amazing!?

During this trip, I am most interested in cycling. I have never had time to complete a long cycling with my classmates, and I have felt such happiness. In addition to these impressive projects, the first day of camping was also very impressive. Although I had never put up a tent before, this time I learned how to put up a tent step by step, and collect a tent step by step.…?In this time (practice week), I feel the importance of unity and cooperation!

After the spring holiday we went to the Moganshan for learn some skills about how we can survive in?the jungle, forest even an island.
I learn many skills from the class, such as how to make the fire with a fire stone and how to filtering the water from the river, but the rock climbing is my favourite.
At the last day we learn the rock climbing. At first nobody dares to climb because they did not know how to climb but our coach Mr. Sam is a professional athlete. He teaches us the tips of the rock climbing.
After that everybody in our group is excited. They all want to try! We make a long line next to the wall. l wait and wait, finally it is my turn! l wear the helmet, fasten the safety rope, and I went up. It is very hard but maybe l only have one chance and I did not want to give up, so l did it!
Anyway, this trip is the most interesting trip in my mind!

Moganshan, acacording.to the introduction, is located in the center of the beautiful and rich Ninglu-travel Golden Triangle national key scenic spot in Deging county, Huzhou City, northern Zhejiang Province. I was most happy to pick tea, because we learned a lot, for example, how to pick tea, how to grind, I also bought an ice cream.

Last week our school organized us to go to Moganshan for a trip. We learned a. lot about wilderness survival from our coach, such as how to build a shelter in the wilderness, and how to use flint stone. We also had a lot of interesting activities, among which I was most impressed by the campfire party on the third day of our trip. The student's wonderful performances and delicious food made me felt excited. This trip made me understood the importance of teamwork. I hope we can have more chances to travel together.
