WELCOME BACK TO WASHZ
New Excellent Journey Starts!
2023-2024?
We welcome the clear and refreshing September and eagerly usher in the beginning of the new school academic year! On the first day back to campus, we have so many stories to share and moments to record. There are also many seeds of wishes we want to sow together with every parent and student, to nurture them under the sunshine and harvest new fruits.
At the end of August, two weeks before the start of the school year, both Chinese and expatriate teachers from the various departments of WASHZ returned to the school to initiate comprehensive staff training.
The staff training covered various topics, including emergency first aid, psychological health, and student safetguardings. It was conducted in-depth, with experienced instructors in first aid and psychology visiting the campus to provide guidance. Every teacher was required to undergo rigorous training, including learning, practical exercises, and examinations.
Simultaneously, to help new and existing teachers integrate more comfortably into the WASHZ community, orientation training covered WASHZ history, culture, educational philosophy, core values, and other aspects to strengthen the teachers' sense of identity with WASHZ.
In the final two days of August, WASHZ regained the lively atmosphere it had two months ago – the students have all returned!
Students from the Upper School, Lower School, and Kindergarten arrived on campus as scheduled. Every day, Mr. Tig Mooney, along with the principals and teachers, stood at the school gate to welcome them. This time, our adorable WASHZ bear joined in the excitement to greet both new and returning students.
Despite the unideal weather, we still saw familiar faces joyfully greeting the principals and eagerly heading to their favorite classrooms and classmates.
For the new students, guided by their teachers, they quickly found their "family" and settled into the cozy school dormitories. After getting settled, the new students bid farewell to their accompanying family members and officially began their WASHZ life, embracing the belongs of school.
Executive Head of WASHZ Mr. Tig Mooney welcomed all new and returning students during the opening ceremony, expressing his hopes for the new semester.

Dear everyone,
The new school year has begun. We will provide you with various academy activities and enrichment courses to offer more opportunities for growth. Of course, each one of us encounters minor challenges during our growth journey. You might feel homesick at times, have small disagreements with friends, or find certain subjects challenging. But please remember the essence of life: "A sword is sharpened by grinding, and plum blossoms emit their fragrance through bitter cold."
Maintaining healthy social andrelationships is also crucial. During your time at school, you'll have many opportunities to interact with subject teachers, dormitory faculty, and fellow students. You should learn to communicate and be friendly with others in the days ahead.
We have excellent facilities, and we hope that you will fully enjoy the advanced and beautiful campus and continually strive for excellence in the days to come.
At the beginning of the new school year, we can't wait to share with you that another wave of outstanding teachers from all around the world has joined WASHZ. Among them, there are "superbrains" who completed both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the Mathematics at the University of Oxford. We also have Lower School teachers who graduated from the prestigious Tavistock Centre, a global authority in psychotherapy, with master's degrees in psychoanalytic observation and child studies. Additionally, there are "global citizens" who have traveled the world, accumulating over a decade of rich experience in cross-cultural education.
The SLT of the Upper School and Lower School have also welcomed new, highly qualified members. The Upper School has a new Chinese Principal, Assistant Head (Community), and head of Six Form with extensive experience. The Lower School has a new Assistant Head (Academic). These diverse new teachers will continue to empower the excellence team at WASHZ.
