WASHZ丨The Infinite Impact of Charity
On June 30th (Friday), The Lower School has hosted a Charity Green Market which was organized by our FWA (Friends of Wycombe Abbey) that further emphasizes our commitment to charity and environmental sustainability on campus.
Green Market
The primary objective of this event was to promote the values of reuse and recycling while raising funds for the Kunpeng Firefight Foundation. All proceeds from the market will go directly to the Kunpeng Firefight Foundation to aid their invaluable work in assisting communities affected by fire disasters.
Parents of pupils have generously donated various goods and contributed financially to support this event. These donated items, ranging from clothing and accessories to toys and books, will be available for purchase at the market.
The market was unexpectedly lively, attracting not only the students of Hangzhou Weiya Elementary School but also other parents and teachers who came to the school! Everyone was drawn to the dazzling array of goods, with cute dolls being the most popular. There were also various types of educational toys, books, stationery... all being offered at affordable prices to find their new owners. It was evident that each item had been carefully taken care of, thoroughly cleaned, and disinfected before being safely displayed on the stalls for exchange.
?“We believe that this event will not only raise awareness about the importance of recycling and reusing but also provide a platform for WASHZ community to come together and actively contribute to a noble cause. It is yet another testament to the spirit of generosity and unity that defines WASHZ. Thanks to all parents support us to make a positive difference and a better future in the world around us and for our pupils .”

01 A Big Step to Charitable Endeavors of WASHZ Community
The Kunpeng Firefight Foundation
Earlier this year, the Lower School pupils participated in a vote to select the Kunpeng Firefight Foundation as Lower School chosen charity organization to support. Since then, the teachers and pupils have been actively engaged in various charitable activities to raise awareness and funds for this noble cause.
?October 2022
Lower School organized a Charity Character Day, where students and staff dressed up as their favorite characters and made donations to support the Kunpeng Firefight Foundation. This event not only brought the community together but also helped inculcate a sense of empathy and compassion among our students.

?Literacy Week May
Lower School hosted two charity events that aimed to promote reading and giving back. The first event involved a live stream, where students could recommend books, and money we collected from selling books all went to charity. The second event was book donating, which educated the pupils about the importance of supporting those in need. The books donated from these charity events have been send to a school in Anhui Province.
In June 2023
One of the most notable achievements was Bots, the charity musical created by Lower School and Upper School. With the combined efforts of students and teachers, we were able to put on an incredible performance that not only entertained the audience but also raised a significant amount of money for the Kunpeng Firefight Foundation. It was truly a testament to the generosity and talent within our community.
02 Love is Mutua
The Kunpeng Firefight Foundation, the charity organization we have been supporting this year. As a way of showing their appreciation, they recently organized a remarkable event centered around firefighting exclusively for our school.
The foundation went above and beyond by arranging a special training session where experienced firemen visited WASHZ to educate Lower School pupils about firefighting techniques and safety measures. This hands-on experience allowed our students to gain valuable insights into the courageous work of firefighters and the importance of fire safety.
During the event, the firemen showcased their fascinating firefighting equipment and demonstrated various firefighting techniques. The pupils were enthralled by the demonstration, as they had the opportunity to witness firsthand the skills and equipment that firefighters rely on to save lives and protect communities.
Charity is touching and meaningful that can build the positive and kind value of pupils from young, what’s more, they can understand love is mutual, no pay no gain as well. As Ms. Zoe Ye said,
“We are truly grateful to the Kunpeng Firefight Foundation for organizing this special event for our school. It not only deepened our students' understanding of the vital role firefighters play in our community but also served as a testament to the powerful impact our charitable efforts can have.”
