The Washington Experience!

This fall break, I traveled to Washington, D.C., for the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media political communication capstone course, MEJO 644, The Washington Experience. Before I get into all the details about the trip, I want to thank our professor, Daniel Kreiss , our TA, Lorcan Neill , and our UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media trip coordinator, Kyle Winters , for organizing this incredible opportunity and making it possible!?

With only four days in the city, we had a full agenda, including open discussions with incredible employees at Pew Research Centers , Bully Pulpit International , EMILYs List , the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) , Cornerstone Government Affairs , Congressional Legislative Assistants and Press/Communications Staffers, and Climate Power .?

Our class also had the honor of having special visits, such as a tour and dinner at the National Press Club and lunch at the Business Roundtable .?

We spent our last day on a tour of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building at the White House Complex, speaking with digital directors and distinguished political communicators about not only their career paths and experiences but also their passion for their work, making it a truly inspiring visit.?

Getting the chance to meet with so many distinguished 美国北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校 alumni and professionals in DC was an experience I will cherish forever, and I look forward to furthering the connections made on this trip. However, one of my favorite parts of the Washington Experience was getting to know my classmates outside of Chapel Hill and creating new friendships and memories that will carry on past this semester and hopefully into our future careers.??
