Washington Is Beyond Our Reach, but We Do Have the Power
Many of you have reached out, and I share your shock and anger about the events we have witnessed this week. While we have great hope for the New Year, the challenges of 2020 continue unabated, and cut even deeper in the wake of the inexcusable assault on our democratic principles. While we all work hard to care for our community and help lead the way out of the pandemic, the burden of injustice weighs heavily. The stress and anxiety we feel, and our patients may feel more acutely, is undeniable.
Much of what happens in Washington is beyond our reach, but we do have the power to listen and show kindness, cultivate hope and trust within our communities, and help build a better, more just nation. The wounds we feel are real. The disparities we see and experience are real. The Health Center has always stood for peace, health and, at its core, social justice. Upholding these values is our shared mission, and one that we can hold dear during this troubling time.

4 年In these troubled and turbulent days of our New Year, to listen and show kindness, cultivate hope and trust.?To be sure, such caring sentiments are as beautiful, as they are noble offerings. However, as we all know real change begins with us...The people. In the coming days, may we all find one thing, one gesture, one lone meaningful action that connects us, as citizens to the challenged, and beleaguered government, we share allegiance!??
