Are Warts Giving You the Blues?

What causes a person who’s had beautiful smooth skin to suddenly develop facial warts?
Warts are benign, non cancerous skin growths that appear when a virus infects the upper layer of skin. Viruses that cause warts are in a category called humanpapilloma virus. Persons are likely to get these viruses through a cut or damage to the skin.
There are more than 100 strains of HPV virus. The virus and the warts themselves are contagious and can spread by contact with the wart or by something that touched the wart.
Many warts are skin-toned, with a rough feel, but may be darker toned, brown or grayish-to-black, or may be flat and smooth. Warts can appear anywhere on the body. Women tend to get flat warts on the legs, children on the face that spread from the hands. Men often get warts in the area of the beard.
Common warts usually grow on the fingers and toes but can appear anywhere. They have a rough, grainy appearance with a round top. Common warts are usually of a grayish-tone.
Filiform warts can present about the nose, mouth, eyelids, chin or neck, as small flaps or tags on the skin, some with hair or a clustered look, in the same tone as surrounding skin.
If you don’t know what kind of wart you have, see a dermatologist, and get his recommendations for the kinds of treatments available, because these warts are on your face, you want to be especially careful to ask lots of questions. Many treatments can cause scaring. Ask about the end result and the length of treatment to achieve that result.
For warts on other parts of the body you can investigate some of the many home remedies to remove warts and skin tags. One year I had a visitor for several days who had skin tags on his neck. I asked if he’d let me remove them. The look he gave me was priceless. But he agreed. Some were on the back of his neck; the three he allowed me to (try) were on the side just under one ear.
His concern was that the ones on the back might become tangled in his clothes and irritated, or pulled in his sleep. This protocol involved dental floss, with daily cleaning and tightening of the floss.
It was hilarious to watch his friends and family observe him with this dental floss dangling from his neck. It did remove the tags, and when he returned home, he followed the protocol to remove the remainders. I called after receiving this question and he reports that the skin tags have never returned, and left no noticeable scaring.
Because warts are caused by a viral infection you’ll want to bolster your internal immune system, to lower your risk of future warts. Implement a healthy eating program of lots of fresh veggies and fruit, to which you can add herbal tonics such as astragalus root, elderberry, olive leaf, or vitamin-C.
Also because warts can spread to others and to other parts of your own body, be sure to wash your hands and face often. Use an antiviral solution of Tea tree oil, Aloe-vera, or my favorite, oil of oregano, to wipe face and hands after washing with soap, 2-3 times daily and before bed.
