Warsaw highlander
In our series of articles about artists we try to bring the public closer to interesting Polish sculptors - such as Jan Mita? Kubicki. However, he is not only a sculptor, but also a performer, educator and social activist. In the 1980s, he graduated from the State Secondary School of Fine Arts. A. Kenara. In 1994 he defended his diploma at the Faculty of Sculpture at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of prof. Grzegorz Kowalski.
In his creative work, he is not limited by either size (he created installations and sculptures several meters big as well as small sculptural forms) or materials (he creates sculptures of ceramics, wood, bronze, steel, resin, stone, etc. ). In his works he often combines a lot of materials, they also show a strong influence of W?adys?aw Hasior - a sculptor like the master, whom he had the opportunity to observe in his youth, finds inspiration in ready-mades objects.
Artist gives new life and expression To What may seem like a waste to the average men. In his actions he combines spatial forms, painting and audiovisual arts, often involving the viewer in his own creative space. He is the author of many artistic actions aimed at the contemporary vision of man. The artist carries out sculpture and art projects in various public spaces. His works go beyond the boundaries of the traditionally understood sculptural form. The social aspect of artistic expression is the main tool used by the artist to describe the artistic challenges surrounding him. Mita? is a multicultural artist - a native highlander for over 20 years living in Warsaw's Praga district.
In the sculptor's works, each recipient finds something of his own, as his works, despite a specific theme, do not have an imposed interpretative scenario. This makes each one of them a separate phenomenon that specifically disturbs the viewer.
