Warren Buffet's Business Writing Tip
Instructional Solutions
Helping businesses work better by training employees to write better - business writing courses online and onsite.
This month, we spotlight a writing strategy recently shared by investment maestro Warren Buffett. It's about transforming your business communication through a simple writing tactic—consider your audience!
Though you may have heard and practiced this before in our training, it is still a frequently missed step when writing. Skipping this step in your writing process will make your writing less effective either on your end (writer's block, time-consuming editing, etc.) or the reader's end (misunderstanding, frustration, etc.).
Buffett advises that writing should be tailored as if addressing a specific person, thereby ensuring clarity and connection. Whether it's an email, a proposal, or a social media post, picturing your reader helps craft messages that truly resonate.
Take this tip (or reminder) and integrate it into your own business writing. Visualize your reader/s, imagine them receiving your message, and communicate as if you're speaking directly to them. This could mean the difference between being understood and being unforgettable.?
