Warning: You SHOULD be REALLY worried...
Silence. The art of conversation is almost dead.

Warning: You SHOULD be REALLY worried...

Right now glossophobia is one of the biggest fears and phobias in the world.

It's the fear of speaking in public (or speaking in general).

I work frequently with C-level managers, company owners and high achievers who need to:

  • Perfect their stage craft
  • Overcome their fear of speaking to an audience
  • Develop great and effective presentations
  • Find their voice
  • Sell their products better
  • More stuff

The thing is that most people developed their fear of public speaking as child when they got told to 'shut up' in public one time too many.

As a direct result, their natural inclination to play and have fun with others became limited to only talking with 'people they know'.

This may also be true for you?

With me so far?

Cool.

Here's where I get worried...

Kids nowadays DO NOT TALK TO EACH OTHER.

There is no small talk, there is no 'go off and play together.

They just grab a gadget (phone, tablet, gaming machine) and just start tapping or staring.

They barely look at each other unless it's to confirm that they can change videos on You Tube.

If you have kids you will already have noticed the above, if not, take a look today.

You see a group of kids - they are all on gadgets.

I don't mean teenagers by the way.

I am also talking about smaller kids, even toddlers - they are doing the same on their parents gadgets.

Am I ranting?

Maybe.

But there's a deadly really serious side to this too...

Right now, every single client of mine can talk to others but is worried about delivering to a larger audience.

I remove those fears and get them back to ground zero able to converse with a large room full of people the way they do to 2 or three.

BUT - WHAT IF THEY NEVER LEARNED HOW TO TALK TO PEOPLE IN THE FIRST PLACE?

The art of talking is essential and SEPARATES US FROM THE ANIMAL KINGDOM.

Think about this.

We use it to...

  • Buy things.
  • Make friends.
  • Get a job.
  • Find a partner.
  • Order food.
  • Stand in a queue.
  • Ask for things we need.
  • Prevent fights.
  • Educate our children.
  • Basically everything.

Until now...

We can order most of the above from a website (or will be able to do so soon).

We are losing small talk and it's so essential for our personal, business and spiritual survival.

How important is it for you to have a good chat with a close friend or someone you love or respect?

How does that repair your inner happiness, your spiritual comfort and leave you ready t go back out into the world and carry on?

It gets you over:

  • Losing your job.
  • Going through divorce.
  • Coping with illness.
  • Arguing with a loved one.
  • Burying family.
  • Recovering from a crisis of every kind.

Imagine how your life would be different if you didn't know how to?

THAT IS MY POINT.

So how do we fix this?

We can't.

Don't believe me?

Try taking your phone back from your kids.

Get it?

Exactly.

NOW YOU TOO ARE WORRIED JUST LIKE ME.

Have a nice day.

x
