2. SVoD subscriptions per household in the US fell from 3.5 in April last year to less than three by November, according to figures from Omdia . FAST channels, meanwhile, look poised to become a leading service in the market, with revenues projected to reach $8bn this year. “This poses both opportunities and challenges for service providers as they adapt to the changing landscape to keep up with evolving viewer demands,” said Omdia’s senior research director Maria Rua Aguete.

3. A Kantar Media ( 特恩斯市场研究咨询有限公司 ) survey found 49% of consumers across 37 countries cited cost as a significant factor when choosing streaming services, ahead of 43% for content.
4. Sports streaming service DAZN has extended its recently-launched free tier to markets including Spain, Japan, Italy, and Portugal.

5. Ampere Analysis said it expects global content spend to be up 2% this year to $247bn. Analyst Hannah Walsh said: "2023 was a worse than expected year for content spend due almost entirely to the Hollywood strikes. The good news is we can look forward to a small recovery of 2% as production resumes and the US election approaches. Global streaming services are forecast to increase total content investment by 7% in 2024 and thus remain key for content spend growth. However, it’s not all rosy as many studios look to cut back on theatrical releases, and broadcasters cut spending due to ongoing declines in TV advertising.”

6. Netflix blew past Wall Street expectations as it added 13.1m subscribers in Q4, the highest for a single quarter since 2020, taking its total base to 260.3m. Revenue was up 12% year-on-year at $8.8bn, reflecting "the benefits of paid sharing, our recent price changes and the strength of our underlying business driven by a strong slate", while operating profit soared to $1.5bn from $550m. Co-chief executive Greg Peters said: "We largely put price increases on hold as we rolled out paid sharing. Now that we're through that, we're able to resume our standard approach. The summary statement might be, 'back to business as usual'."
