Warehousing Management System- Another Perspective

I used to live in Lahore back in 2006, where a friend of mine worked as logistics head for a fortune 1000 company. We mostly used to catch up at lunch- one day, he asked me to pick him up from a warehouse. I sat there for a good hour as there were many challenges with the same warehouse. Last night, something happened that made me recall all those issues again. A lead dropped in for our PackageX Platform with a note mentioning all those challenges, which??I heard about almost 16 years ago. It means the very same challenges are still present. Technology has leaped frothed, but because of silos between tech systems or tech, challenges persist.
The challenges are not limited to manual data entry, poor visibility, productivity & efficiency, or system not talking to other systems.??
However, the opportunity, on the other hand, is enormous. The?global warehouse management system?market is expected to grow from USD 2.8 billion in 2021 to USD 6.1 billion by 2026, at a CAGR of 16.7% from 2021 to 2026.?
The main drivers of this growth are increased demand for e-commerce, increased production, and development in the manufacturing sector. In addition, government initiatives ?kept?contributing to this market growth.?
The warehouse industry is massive and very diverse, with many responsibilities for getting a product from its point of origin to the shelves of stores across the country.
Talking about Challenges: -
Why pen and paper?is?still a problem for warehouse management??
Unfortunately, many businesses still use pen and paper to manage their warehouse. It is a problem because it is complex to track inventory, logistics, and other essential data.?
Moreover, it becomes challenging to keep track of multiple shipments at once. This can lead to errors in order processing and product availability. Additionally, handwritten notes may be lost if not stored properly. Finally, pen and paper can increase the chances of human error when entering data into a system.?
So, the data ingestion with?manual data entry?is flawed at this stage.?
Rightly said, Garbage in, Garbage Out!?
Poor visibility is not only a warehouse issue.?
What is the level of my inventory? Where are items being stored? Is the warehouse being delivered the wrong items? Poor visibility of items coming into your warehouse remains another challenge. Drivers come to the warehouse to drop the items without any clue against which Purchase Order or Manifest they belong. It's a pain for finance and operations people to understand the inventory's value.?
Visibility, Visibility, and Visibility are all linked with Traceability!

Is your resource well-equipped, or is efficiency just a buzzword??
The resources are struggling at the warehouse- receiving the items, entering information into the system, keeping the items in the right place, and gathering them again for shipping. On average, 8-10 different systems are in place at a single warehouse, where they aren't synced to communicate and have a single source of truth. Or they are still managing it on excel sheets and sharing emails – and lately calling it a resource productivity and efficiency challenge!?
How can we get out of this situation??
