The Beginning
Our existence as a living organism is of supreme importance and we have always been quite concerned about our “self” trying to decipher the complex codes called our genome. Apart from the scientific technicalities, it’s always a very tedious job for us to understand the ongoing operations within our bodies and minds. However, a different perspective about the relationship between our bodily (physical) and mental (spiritual) features is to be detailed in this article.
This article will focus on the thin line between both these realms and how healthy coordination can help us lead a quality life. This article may turn out to be an elixir for many of the readers and will call for a second read to not only understand but enjoy and rise above the current status. In this article “you” is to be considered a character, a separate entity, a separate personality and then its traits will be assessed.
So, to begin with, let us examine what “you” is actually. You is the whole of the “self”, self which comprises of two different facets i.e. physical and spiritual realm and there is a gateway that acts as a connection between both these realms. Our Physical realm refers to our body which includes all the organs and their technical functionality including the five sensors i.e sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. On the other hand, we have our spiritual realm that is the experience we have as a result of the senses produced by our bodily functions through the sensors. It also exhibits the “sixth” sense which is considered an asset and has always been a topic of interest by all the schools of thought. Such experiences resulting from an interaction between the physical and spiritual realm and ignite the emotional responses like fear, anger, sadness, joy, disgust, trust and much more.
What’s the big catch here?
The main thing that is of key importance is that generally, humans are more focused on their emotions which are the surficial feelings or end results, instead of the physical facets which are the main reason why these feelings actually exist at first place. Thus, humans tend to pay less attention to their physical “experiences” which indeed are the basic and foundation activities that help to keep this “flesh & bones” machine going.
Digging deeper in “you”
“You” is primarily based upon the “physical realm” and the experiences generated by this are then interpreted in the spiritual realm through a coordinated approach. Such experiences when not interpreted accurately result in a spiritual malfunction or chaos, which further results in physical malfunction and chaos, thus the vicious cycle keeps going on adding to supplementary misery. Now, in order to satisfy the spiritual requirements the humans try to seek a “synthetic version of pleasure” For example: the big fat “juicy burger” the “you” take gives “you” a kind of “pleasure (experience of course)” but on the other hand the same juicy burger creates “disturbance” in the physical functions as the body is unaware of such a “pleasure” or its source yet its primary requirement to function is not the “taste” which gave “you” that particular pleasure but the nutrition required to function properly. Now “you’s” physical functions are already disturbed and this state results in displeasure for “you” and depression kicks in which causes disturbance on “spiritual level”. In order to seek spiritual stability, “you” decides to experience more of the synthetic version of “pleasure” through other sources say “shopping”, yet buying unnecessary things leads to financial jeopardy and “you” now experience further depression and the spiritual state worsens.
What exactly happened here?
“You” actually forgot the awareness of “Self” for being focused on the “disturbance”. “You” is viciously immersed in the “disturbance” and getting rid of it that “you” has forgotten the actual reason behind it. Such a chaotic situation on the spiritual realm has caused deterioration and the disturbance despite all the efforts to mitigate it are on the rise. Here is another example, “You” in order to decrease the disturbance, once again tries to seek “pleasure” by watching movies, having gossips etc and sacrifices the ever-important “sleep”. On physical realm “you’s” body and especially brain need rest through a quality sleep in order to function properly. Yet, in pursuit of “pleasure” to decrease the disturbance, “you” has preferred to stay awake for a longer period of time. After getting half of the actual sleep required, the next day “you” gets up all tired and cloudy, why? Because the body and brain couldn’t get the rest, required to help it function properly. Now, all day long, “you” struggles with focus, loses mind quickly, fails to make important decisions, can’t drive perfectly because on the physical level, “you’s” body is struggling thus leading to spiritual chaos. The lack of interest due to tiredness resulted in wrong decisions that resulted in “humiliation”. This brought further disturbance to “you” on spiritual level causing “stress” both physically in the form of tiredness and spiritually in the form of negative emotions like frustration, self-loathing, self-victimization and many more. Actually, its “you’s” self-awareness that is flawed and since “you” doesn’t go and try to find the source of the problem, thus “you” is failing to initiate self-Management techniques.
So what should “you” do?
Here is the list of things that “you” has to start doing immediately, in order to fix the thing up.
· “You” must realize that bodily functions (the physical realm) is of extreme importance and needs continuous attention.
· “You” must immediately disassociate from any activities causing disturbance and probe the “self” to understand and make a list of such disturbing activities, such as going to bed late, extreme usage of smartphones, watching unnecessary videos on internet etc.
· “You” must be aware of his suitable type of food, timing and quantity to enrich the body, not just the tongue and mind (experience). “You” must eat to satisfy the physical needs not the spiritual experience as a good body, will harness a great spiritual experience already.
· “You” must regularly give rest to the organs, like in case of eyes, you must get a five minutes rest by closing eyes after using any gadget for half an hour.
· “You” must stick to the sleeping pattern and schedule. “You” must realize that the body needs rest and deserves it too.
· “You” must look at the “self” in deeper terms and try to find shortcomings within it, then try and fix them up consciously.
· “You” must read regularly and religiously, as much as possible. “You” must know, that reading enlightens the least used spots of the brain and bring them to light. A healthy brain will result in a healthier thought process, leading to a positive life.
There are many other suggestions which I shall request “you” to come up with. Be aware of your “self” and empower the “you” to get you to eternal peace and harmony.
The main idea is to keep your physical experience above the spiritual experience, to serve your body first. To plan and do whatever you think to satisfy your physical needs. Say that the water is very important, it fulfills your bodily requirements and helps your brain function properly as 80% and above percent of water is required by your brain to function and your brain cannot function on carbohydrate drinks. Doing exercise is to keep your “self” physically fit, growing muscles for expressive purposes to your friends and others only satisfy your ego. Eating organic will provide your body with the vital nutrients to function, however, the junk food will serve no such cause at all other than a spiritual experience to “show-off”. Buying a comfortable pair of shoes for your feet should be the primary goal instead of how a pair of shoes will “look” best on you, thus decorate your feet with comfort instead of appearance. Adopt a lifestyle that creates a conducive environment for your body first. That’s how you will be able to improve your “self” and once you are healthy first physically and of course then mentally. It will result into the best quality of life you can have.
