War Rooms

War Rooms

Chief John Anderton put his haptic gloves on and mentally prepares himself for his investigation ahead like a Conductor before an Orchestra. The PreCogs have forewarned Washington Police Department that a murder is imminent in Ward 2. Most PreCog visions are like dreams sparse on details, even absurd

In anticipation of Anderton’s request one of his deputies – Jad - asks his voice activated AI (VAAI) assistant Dave – descendant of Siri & Alexa - to compile a list of all individuals with priors in the neighborhood and segment it by race gender and age. John has in the meanwhile pulled live videos from all cameras on the blocks where civilians most often report crimes to check for suspicious activities. He cross references the characters he is seeing on his translucent screens with Jad’s list. Voila! Firearm! Upon further querying Dave, John learns the individual holding the automatic weapon has a history of violence and has former associates and ex-convicts who live in Ward 2. John dispatches a team that uses jet-packs to get to the site in under 2 minutes. Yuri is arrested with the help of non lethal weapons. Homicide circumvented.

The aforementioned scene is inspired by the Steven Spielberg film Minority Report and the room where Jad and John are running analytics is often referred to as the War Room. Think Charles Duke receiving updates in Houston from Neil Armstrong during Apollo 11’s descent or Obama getting live feed from Go Pro Cameras on Navy Seal Helmets scrounging through Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Abbotabad

I wonder what a War Room for a Biopharmaceutical Executive like Vas Narsimhan of Novartis will look like. It will offer

[Preclinical Trials]

1.       Interface that enables exploration of the design space for Drugs to determine binding affinities, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics etc.

2.       Toxicology, Immunogenicity, Mutagenicity & Carcinogenicity visualizations for ongoing trials

3.       VAAI that can answer questions like the suitability of an animal models for a given indication

4.       Ability to run simulations on Insilico models obviating need for Animal Testing

5.       Natural Language Processing (NLP) tool that can instantaneously summarize entire corpus of peer-reviewed literature on everything from pathological genetic variants to side-effect profiles for a small molecule to symptoms of medical disorders

6.       Virtual & Augmented Reality tools that allow the exploration of mammalian anatomy

7.       Dashboards summarizing analysis conducted by Competitive Intelligence teams on existential threats to pipeline assets

[Clinical Trials]

8.       Multiple HIPAA compliant cameras retrofitted with machine vision software broadcasting events from Clinical sites offering clues into phenomenon like Patient Attrition or highlighting weaknesses in clinical trial design

9.       Conjure at a moments notice

a.       List of Endpoints for every HCT being conducted worldwide

b.       Cross Referenced Trial Metadata to inspire ideas for Drug Re-purposing

10.   Charts and graphs on Costs incurred to conduct HCT

[Post Marketing]

11.   Any figure, metric or trend-line from Novartis Financial Statements

12.   Patient and Physician Survey results

13.   View of burgeoning repository of Real World Evidence (RWE) to justify price points of drugs to Payers and Public Representatives

14.   Dashboards summarizing Market Research into assumptions for Revenue Models

Is this a pipedream or do we have the engineering talents and corporate will to build such infrastructure? What do you think?
