WAR DAMN EAGLE! Hey!

It’s almost time! AHHH! Football Season!

Yeah, I was brought up in SEC country, and I’ve been an Auburn Tiger my whole life. I was an Auburn fan during the Barfield era, where we were Tailback U but not really anything more. I remember Pat Dye being hired, and Bo Jackson going OVER THE TOP and on his way to a Heisman Trophy, though I will admit I don’t remember Sullivan getting his Heisman but I was a wee tot. I remember the world losing Coach Bear Bryant and watching the Iron Bowl for the first time in Jordan-Hare (as an Auburn band student in an ugly flag uniform). I’ve done Sugar Bowl seasons and seasons without a bowl, and I’ve loved all 50+ years of football. That’s where the world gets murky for me now. I’m moving out of the South and into Florida. Yeah, most people think that Florida is the south, but it’s just southern of the South.

I’ve done football games every season since 1986 (except the weird 2020 season but I kinda wish I had), and being over 7 hours from Auburn is going to make this one tough. I’m lucky because the Space Coast Auburn Fans is an active program so I’m excited to join them, but I’m gonna set a goal to see one in person this year anyway. Of course, if I fail at my Vision #5 to get a fulltime job, I guess it’ll be easier because I’ll still be just an hour away and just have to take a Saturday off to get a game in. But, let’s be positive for now and hope to be away from town. Either way, I’m setting a goal to watch the games with the club every week they meet.

The goal is the first step. S – Specific: I will attend ONE in person game in Auburn, and watch the season at every Space Coach Auburn Club get together after I move. M – Measurable: Well, it’s eleven games but only one in person. A – Achievable: ?Watching with the Auburn Club – yeah, as long as the get togethers aren’t cancelled, but in person will be harder. ?R – Relevant: For me, it certainly is. I love my Tigers and I will see them in person if I can help it at all. ?T – Timely: The season lasts through the end of November. I will set the goal for the end of October, though, because that gives me time to temporarily fail. And in the meantime, WAR DAMN EAGLE! Hey!?
