War crimes and Drugs
Jordan Curl
Educator, advocate and consultant to governments and corporations for the medical, recreational and industrial (hemp) cannabis industries
Let’s talk about another embattled segment of society, our military veterans. As a United States Marine Combat Infantry Assaultman, you witnessed the ravages of war up close. Many come home with wounds, some obvious, some hidden from view. As a substitute for opioids to alleviate chronic pain, and as treatment for PTSD, anxiety and depression, cannabis and it’s derivative products are very effective. Helping our veterans to recover and actively participate in the industry should remain a top priority. Thoughts?
JC????????????
How many hours do you have to listen about the military industrial complex and anecdotal incidents of its downstream effect on the social-economical, environmental, and mental health levels from around the globe let alone at home because of the American military? To quote the most decorated Marine chesty Puller “I was a pimp for Capitalism. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say that the explosion of research cannabinoids created in labs in China was a coordinated attack on American military personnel to help create a level of combat in-effectiveness.? Or maybe it was just big pharma’s way of trying old policies to maintain? their profits like keeping plant medicine illegal? except they had the unintended effected of creating a even bigger problem with the amount of un-researched and un-tested RCs. At Least the original HU and JWH series had research and data backing that they weren't the worst drug to consume on the list, yet non-data or science based policy basically paved the way for the the synthetic cannabinoids epidemic, followed by synthetic cathinone's like “Flocka or Meow Meow/bath salts/Kat” or A-PVP/Methodrone/MDDA, which eventually lead to the current and even more deadly fentanyl/carfentanil epidemic because people realized the policy left open loop holes that were going to allow for demand to be met in the cheapest way possible, ordering for china from a random derivative.
This should all be considered when discussing military veterans or prisoners, all wards of the state in which cannabis and plant medicine criminalization pretty much help create this problem. Because if people could just smoke a joint they might be of better reaction or overall life happyness if its not their drug of choice. The fact that self medication was not only encouraged with alcohol in the military but was also intentionally hidden and swept under the rug when people had substance-abuse issues.? Stealing their bottle and making People doing push ups instead of rehab or therapy wasn’t the way to solve obvious mental health issues not being addressed. I didn't need to be a psychologist to understand there was a mental health problem when you sleep in a ship birthing with 60 guys and 20% wake up screaming from nightmares, let alone the alcohol induced incidents and problems that happen once we would hit a port abroad or at home with our demons in hand.
If you want to get into it, I saw people non-juridically lose years of earned benefits and respect because of just being accused of using synthetic cannabinoids. So just from the perspective alone I've seen many lives ruined not only for when they got caught but the long term consequences? dealt with because of the failed policies even if they didn’t get caught. How do you stop Synthetic cannabinoid addiction, legalization?
I wouldn’t ever say veterans should be the focus or main receiving's of any kind of equity program but I think the government has a responsibility outside lip service to provide for the damages they did a lot of kids, some like me who enlisted at 17. We cant trust a kid to drink a beer but will give them 20 kilos of C4 to drop in front of the King of Jordan and signed legally binding contracts that have clauses that include the death penalty for missing a movement (AWOL)? during a time of war. Regardless if its not been used since WW2 for rapist and murders, would you sign Apples Iphone terms and conditions if it ment you could get thrown in a jail cell if you jail broke it.
?My first Weapons platoon commander Lieutenant C. was a Orange County resident and grew up right off base, he was gay, secretly out before dont ask dont tell was repealed, and had cannabis plants in his backyard and he would happily tell you about it. If that ain’t some bullshit I don’t know what is. Just like when they had you lie about how many times you smoked cannabis before enlisting, it was all just this bullshit facade and stigma that would perinate regardless of on the ground results and common knowledge. Smoking cannabis 3 times or drinking 3 times disqualifies you from Presidential security duty, they ask you just leave the room because even the recruit depots know everyone lies about their cannabis use. Even though the system is perfectly designed to brainwash and reprogram the most resilient, the government doesn’t care and we kinda have always known that. It's like Animal Rights Activists raising funds when northern Mozambique fishermen and refugees are getting caught up in more and more privatized war that is doing nothing but bring more violence and bloodshed to a place suffering and ripe for further radicalization or piracy.
Military History and Politics aside, fucking step up and do your fucking job is what the terminal lance corporal in me wants to say. Knife hand included.
The Question on weather veterans should be part of the Industry, of course, we’re perfectly trained for it, not only to learn mostly trained to learn through Socratic and person to person means, we have guidelines and books based on all the 1960-1970s business schools who the war colleges modeled themselves after, leading to a autocracy of career protectionism or require perfectionism to reach a “deep state level” that is lead from competent generals to the thrash we see today. You wonder why army’s eventually privatize over and over again and mercenaries will exist is because people will always need money and until we abolish a state or institute, and implement a rotating militia thats decentralized we’re going to always face the issue of the state having a full control monopoly on violence, foreign and domestic.

Seen your local police department lately? Excuse the homophobic slur but in 2010 “gear queer” or fobbit would be appropriate response to seeing that level of tacticoolness on the street. The reason soldiers and Marines go private is, cause its cheaper to secure rare earth mineral rights in Afghanistan if you operated in the area and payed for a warlords sex slave a few times on the Americans dime. Makes life a little easier when you can whats app your local Ephedrine or Opium Processor, just like the joint task forces and schools we still operate in South America, when coming hole, delta boys always seem to be with light “protein” powder get found when members return from the cocaine producing countries.
Is the corruptions or conspiracy. The feds are idiots, that's organized crime that's being initiating the military since before the surge. Why do you think theirs no local stories or reports about the organized crime to military pipeline for training. Zeta’s aside, I am talking about people joining with the intention to come back to train. Is that just another PMC or because its drug funded it is unethical because it doesn’t represent a recognized state.
I've seen how mainstream media how's allowed veteran owned business to be propped up and exploited in both normal sectors and the cannabis and hemp sector. I think to base your business model on such a niche, you might as well just make it a charity and the BIG MSO? that does make a program that does really do something real, probably sends out a recruiter to use veterans to get ahead in social equity programs. So the system is usually a sham to begin with but that comes with emerging markets and growing pains.
We were built to put into functioning systems created for you as placeholder yet taught be decentralized and taught to think for our selves (crayon eating aside) no matter what the situations or resources. The discipline and respect for time and appearances makes us ideal Canadases for the industry weather that's moving plants or writing order/business plans and presenting them with tact to people where more “important” then us. The Israeli’s co-opted a saying yalla, its many uses cover almost as much has the word fuck can, but the Marine Corps motto of always faithful embodies it. Fuck it, lets go. Which is why as an American Marine, the natural inclination to shut up and just do the job regardless if I think I can because no one else will. I apply to everyday life whether I am donating food or picking up trash, if not me then who is the saying that comes to mind.
The problem with using veterans in the role for can cannabis comes from two problems, the mental health issues and security issues. I don’t think I want PTSD veterans guarding my poppy fields (or do I?) or a heroin cook making my morphine sulfate tabs. So just because a group may benefit from the medicine or industry, doesn't mean it cant be ripe for exploitation or potential harm.
Examples of these? cases are the large number of security firms and armed guards? offering security for these places, whether retail or production, security is needed but as a veteran with no context I constantly get confused for being some kind of bad ass, not a mentally ill person with a firearm potentially. Not to say we are all baby killers, but I know more vets who should have a gun for personal and public safety than it seems these days.? Also people were still getting charged in 2017 in legal states felony for having firearms around medical cannabis grows still. So to me because of the federal scheduling issue, you have a potential perfect storm brewing either to get someone hurt or someone put in jail on some bullshit charges.
That aside, if anyone is entitled to free cannabis it should be veterans. I think we should have a beer bottle recycle plan that includes a deposit of one gram per bottle. Are streets clean as hell in Seattle if you did that for 0.1 of heroin or meth too.
The clinical science is in, even the hypocritical DEA admits there's potential for medical use of cannabis use or else the FDA wouldn’t approve cannabinoid derived drugs or run ole Mississippi still to supply the last 2-4 federal cannabis program receipts if it wasn’t true, they just can’t afford legalization or to lose taxes to allowing legitimized through tax deductions. The least the government could do is reschedule or allow states to operate stores and take their ATF taxes like normally do. This is just a case of where public stigma and opinion has shifted so far to approval, there's not a real logical argument to continue prohibition. Why not let the same people who would use this medication to subsidize their healthcare (reducing VA and Prison/Obamacare overhead) and take their tax cut and create a job training program not focused on fossil fuels or dead end career paths that say your never worth more than 20 USD an hour unless you become a cop or go private security. Let's give a pathway to success for veterans, I was a mess after the military, I lucked out, others not so much, so why not provide that option. We are over a year into the Canadian military successfully allowing off duty cannabis use, and we have had one incident where a lower enlisted female dosed some fellow soldiers at a party. What about the school teachers serving jello shots from the afterparty or a parent leaving their cigarettes or medication within reach of minors. If you read enough first hand accounts of the Vietnam war, Marines were fighting on all sort of mind bending drugs, as well the the VC creating a firefly effect lighting up opium pipes before an attack. From the little blue meth pill for pilots to the methodrone stock piles found as the ISIS caliphate was push back, my personal hypothesis is that a lot of war crimes are a result of stimulant-hysteria.
