We all know that AI has changed our lives in ways we never thought possible! Means the way we communicate, work and live is revolutionized by artificial intelligence. And two of the biggest players in this exciting and in depth field are ChatGPT, a large language model developed by OpenAI and Google AI “Bard” which is Google's own AI model. Both AI models are based on the same concept of Natural Language Processing (NLP), they each have their own unique qualities that set them apart.
In this article we are going to delve into the amazing AI war between ChatGPT and Google AI “Bard”.
Before we dive into the war of ChatGPT and Google AI “Bard”, first we need to understand what NLP and AI language models are all about. NLP is basically a branch of AI that focuses on how computers can understand and communicate with humans using natural language. Let’s take a moment to understand NLP in a more easy way. Just think of NLP as a teaching computer how to talk and understand human language just like you and me. We are exchanging words to communicate and understand what others are saying. Exactly the same NLP helps the computer to do the same thing. Does that make sense?
?Okay lets move to understand AI language models. These models are computer programs that have been trained on vast amounts of data to generate human-like language. For example: you could train an AI language model on a massive amount of dataset of movie script and then use that model to produce a new scene or even a full script. So, now we can say that AI
language models are like AI-powered language geniuses that can generate text that actually sounds like it was written by a real human.
2. ChatGPT: The Rise of a Language Model Champ
Now let’s start talking about one of the finest and greatest things in the world of AI. OpenAI
“ChatGPT”. Have you ever talked to a computer and it felt like you were talking to a human? That’s the magic of ChatGPT!
ChatGPT is a Generative-Pre-Trained-Transformer based language model that is trained on a massive corpus of text data, developed by OpenAI. This immense training of ChatGPT is allowed to generate human-like text and respond to various prompts in a conversational manner. One of the major advantage of ChatGPT is its ability to perform numerous NLP tasks such as text summarization, language translation and sentiment analysis.
3. Google AI “Bard”: Google’s Answer to ChatGPT
Is Google inspired or hesitant?
Let’s jump into more in depth but WAIT ! What is Google’s new AI “Bard” we need to get insights first. 谷歌

Google AI “Bard” is Google’s very own language model which is Language Model for Dialogue Application (LaMDA) designed to perform numerous NLP tasks. Similar to ChatGPT, “Bard” has also been trained on massive amounts of data because it helps “Bard” to generate human-like text. According to Google, the new AI language model named “Bard”, is the lighter version of another AI model called LaMDA, which google first announced in May 2021 and it is based on similar technology to ChatGPT. Sundar Pichai, wrote in a blog post, “Bard” is open up to “Trusted users” and it will be public in coming weeks. On the other hand, CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in a blog post that “ Bard” aims to offer the chatbots to more users and provide high-quality and fresh responses to users. We can say that the dominance of Google’s web search is first time challenged by OpenAI “ChatGPT”.
ChatGPT VS GOOGLE AI BARD: Is “Bard” seen as a competitor of ChatGPT?
As we all know that Google announced the launch of its new AI based chatbots named “Bard” and It informs the users that “Bard” can give the latest news of the latest events. It is easy to digest that Google has a tremendous amount of data (for machine learning). On the other hand ChatGPT isn’t capable enough to give the latest and current information as it is trained on data till 2021. However both Google’s AI "Bard" and OpenAI “ChatGPT” are competent enough to win this war game. Let’s see how Google’s new AI “Bard” performs once it is released to the public.
4. Alphabet Incurs $100 Billion Loss After Google’s AI “Bard” Technology Error
Alphabet is Google's parent company who incurred a $100 billion loss after making a factual error by Google’s new AI named “Bard” in its first demonstration on Wednesday. This error decreased the share of Alpha by 9% and 微软 Google’s competitor gained 3% in shares after sharing the news of integration of ChatGPT to the Bing search engine. Whereas, CEO Sundar Pichai states that “Bard” is only available for trusted users before releasing to the public in a shorter period of time. This time we can possibly say that as a language based model AI, including both “Bard” and “ChatGPT” are not perfect and may sometimes provide incorrect answers. However, ChatGPT has a first mover advantage and the first time an AI model gives a tough time to Google that creates a huge amount of mess in terms of competition.
5. Transformation of My Ideas Into Reality
Back in 2020, I was learning advanced IT and my instructor taught us about Knowledge Management Systems. Further, he gave us an example of a game named “Akinator” which is based on KMS. Akinator is basically an online game that uses artificial intelligence to make a guess of the name of a real or fictional character that was hidden in users/players mind. In this game a series of questions is asked by akinator until it reaches the correct one.
At that moment I was thinking about Google's chatbot and search bar. My concern was google just showed me some websites that are ranked but not good enough to provide me the information that i wanted to get. For example: Sometimes we searched for something unique that the answer was not available in 谷歌 web search and in the end it provided a “Get the answer” box so that it will be shared by Google with an online publisher who might be able to answer our question. This sucks all the time but after knowing the science behind Akinator, my thought process was running like a runner and just in a few hours I got the idea of Integration of KMS into Google’s chatbots and search bars or 谷歌 can create an AI language model that has the potential to respond to prompts in a conversional manner, making it seems as though you are talking to a human. I roughly wrote my idea on how 谷歌 can take the advantage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) through machine learning by providing a greatest solution to the world. As It didn’t happen in last decades and this massive transformation can bring a solution based answers of lots of unsolved questions. Also Google has a massive amount of data (for machine learning) and it would be easy for Google to turn out the best transformation into reality.
?I always wanted to share my idea with Google but did not know how to pitch my idea to 谷歌 at that time. And when i heard about the launch of ChatGPT powered by OpenAI i was literally in shock that i can see what i just thought back in 2020. Boom! Massive Transformation On its Way To Change Reality. Sadly, I have a big regret for Google for not enjoying the First Mover Advantage.
6. The Future of AI Language Models
As we know AI continues to make advanced progress so, in this way we can expect to see even more advanced level language models in future. Both “ChatGPT” and Google AI “Bard” set a high level bar for future AI language models, so it is possible that we can see the latest advancement in this field in coming years.
In general, The War of “ChatGPT” and “Bard” make sure of how fast AI models are improving and becoming more powerful. Both have a potential to transform the way we interact with technology in this era. Whether ChatGPT or Bard, both win the war as both latest AI models are impressive in their own way and both have a capability to make an impact on our future lives.
