What a week!
What an actual week.?
This week started for me with a lot of anxiety. I had a lot of things to do and I was severely overwhelmed.
I didn’t know how I was going to accomplish all the things I set out to do and it stressed me so much.
Mid week, I had to change some of my goals cause it was affecting me physically and mentally.?
Then the week ended with the presidential elections yesterday. I found myself unable to sleep on Friday night. I stayed up literally the entire day yesterday.?
The anxiety I have been feeling can only be compared to how I felt during the endsars protests. On one hand I’m so proud of my generation for how much we are fighting to make Nigeria better. We have come out in masses to support change regardless of tribe and?class. It is very inspiring to see.?
On the other hand I’m very scared that our efforts will be tossed aside like during the protests. We’re watching in real time as thugs are hurting people in polling units and people are being intimidated and harassed.
It’s very hard to not lose hope and fall back to not caring about the elections. But I have to care.
We have to care.
This is the only country we have. If we don’t fight for it, who will?
The one thing that has kept me sane this past week is falling back to scripture. I have kept 3 scriptures abreast and I’m going to share them to anyone who is feeling as anxious as I am.?

These scriptures have helped me fight against anxiety for years so I know they will help you too
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”???-Romans 8:28 NLT?
Everytime I feel sad or something isn’t going my way, I find myself whispering “All things work together” over and over again. It helps me stay calm. It reminds me that God isn’t careless, he isn’t confused, he isn’t blind or deaf. He’s seeing me and watching all the effort I put in everyday. He’s definitely going to work it out. He has a plan. Everything is in his plan. From how dark my skin is, to my height, to where I live, who I love, where I go to school, the friends I have. Even something as tiny as the person I meet on the road. God is using every single thing for my good. It might not be now, it might not be tomorrow or even next month. But every single thing i go through is because God allows it and it’s all for my good. For our good. All things are working for our good.
“But the path of the just (righteous) is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day.”??-Proverbs 4:18 AMP
My second favorite scripture ever and it’s because of the phrase, “brighter and brighter”. I’m reminded constantly that God is a God of growth, a God of continuous improvement and movement. He’s not a God of stagnation, he’s a God of brighter and brighter. So even on the bad days, it’s brighter than the day before, even when it looks like all is not going well, he’s still the God of brighter and brighter. Even in feeling stuck, God remains the God of brighter and brighter, and he doesn’t change. He will never change until the perfect day. And we will never be perfect till we leave earth. So no matter what happens in a day, no matter how frustrating and annoying it is, God is moving us to a perfect day. Even when it does not look like it, he’s working to take us to the perfect day.
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”???-Philippians 1:6 NLT
Finally, the third favorite. God who started will surely continue and finish. As long as you exist on earth that work has begun. Your being born was the beginning of the good work. Being here means God has a plan. He knows what he wants you to become. As long as we tap into his will for us he is obligated to continue and eventually finish. He will never abandon us, never. God doesn’t stop halfway. He is the perfect God. Perfection is in the end of a matter, not at the beginning or the middle. So it’s not over till it’s over.?
Arm yourself with this scriptures in the battle against anxiety. Especially as we are going into this next week and the results will be called.?
God is in control, always.?
I wish us all a blessed week
See you next Sunday!
