WANTED: Someone Who Wants to Work Pt. 2 – The Revelation

If you haven’t yet read WANTED: Someone Who Wants to Work - Part 1, stop now and go back and find and read it. If you have read it, then you might understand why I felt a need for Part 2.?

After writing Part 1, I stepped away from my digital pulpit feeling somewhat relieved that I got that whole, work productivity has gone to you know where in a handbasket, thing off my chest. But no. The issue just hung with me. I couldn’t get rid of it, like the neighbor who wants to talk about nothing while I want to watch a football game.?

So, I decided to retreat to the one place where I do my best thinking and take a long, hot shower. Sure enough, I received a revelation from the muses of the universe, the Business Gods of Valhalla. I received an answer to my question: If so many employees are trying to figure out ways not to work, what is the upside??

The upside became ridiculously obvious. Remember the statistics:

• Employees and Executives alike are not showing up for work
• 25% of all employees – including managers- admit to practicing “bare-minimum Mondays,” during which they start work late, stream shows, and play games while at work
• Gallup’s State of the Workplace report says that 69% of American employees are unengaged or actively disengaged but remain at work.
• Employees don’t quit their jobs; they just decide not to work

With those statistics in hand, here’s the upside.?

The fastest way for you to be highly successful in your work and to get promoted faster is to:

• Show up for work on time and work hard
• Do your job until it’s done right
• Don’t whine or complain
• Exceed your Goals
• Have fun

Do these five things, and I guarantee you will be in demand. You will get noticed as an achiever, a winner, and future management material. While all the others are slacking, wasting time, and trying to figure out what they can get away with, You are just doing your job, getting promoted, and making more money.

You know, sometimes success IS just that easy.?
