Want your own personalized chatbot? It's possible now!

Users may now create their own chatbots utilising prompts and an existing bot, such ChatGPT, as the base thanks to a software called Poe. Poe, the newest product from the Q&A website Quora, which has long offered web searchers answers to the most frequently Googled queries, was first made available to the public in February. The business made the decision to enter this industry by enabling customers to experiment with the most cutting-edge AI technologies from businesses like OpenAI and Anthropic via a straightforward smartphone interface. To date, the mobile app version of Poe has 1.17 million installs and has generated $520,000 in gross revenue. according to app intelligence firm data.ai

Poe initially supported a few general knowledge chatbots, such as Sage and Dragonfly, which were driven by OpenAI technology, and Claude, which was powered by Anthropic. Poe launched subscriptions this month that let users pay a fee to use the more potent bots built on new language models, such as GPT-4 from OpenAI and Claude+ from Anthropic. The company noted at the time that Poe is the only consumer-facing internet product with access to either Claude or Claude+.

The new feature allows users to direct a chatbot to perform highly specific tasks, such as outputting text in the style of a favorite author or aimed at a particular audience. Users can access the bots via Poe's iOS and Android apps, desktop web interface, or mobile web. Once created, the bot will have its own unique URL, for example, poe.com/botname.?

Users can follow the bot and it will appear in Poe's sidebar bot list alongside other bots such as Sage and Claude. The company plans to offer bot creators feedback and develop an API in the future.

Already, some users announced within the Twitter thread how they used the feature to make bots for both practical purposes, like trip planning or learning math, as well as for fun, like flirting tips.

According to Quora CEO Adam D'Angelo, prompting can unlock value from language models. The company hopes the new feature will enable users to share their talent for prompting with the world, providing simple interfaces for everyone to get the most out of AI. The app is ranked number 32 in the Productivity category on the App Store.
