Want Some Fun? Draw the River Is While You Swim in It!
Sketching the River Is, or you may call it the Changeless, or what some refer to as the Life permeating the moment, or the I Am, the Unified Field, or the Presence of God, whatever you call it, to draw It takes very little time and better yet, very little artistic skill.
“Why would I want to draw the Changeless River Is?†you might ask. Bringing your awareness to the River Is to draw It keeps you present to It, and helps the River to stay in your consciousness, allowing your being to more and more merge with It.
All You Need: My sketch here was done on a 3†x 5†notepad, which I carry in my pocket. A scrap piece of paper would do. Next, I used a mechanical pencil (because it keeps a sharp point) to render forms and then colored pencils to depict the River Is, but almost anything would work, even crayons.
How You Do It: In pencil I first sketch in the people with a real loose hand, not worrying about accuracy, just enough to give a hint of where bodies and forms are in space. Next, I sit in stillness observing the energy of space—the energy of the River Is, sensing the life of It. Then I begin to interpret the River Is in a variety of colored lines—sometimes squiggly, sometimes straight, in dashes, specks or curlicues, feeling as I draw. Sometimes it is a radiant light I feel, and a yellow depicts that quite well. This is where you will come up with your own creative visual language. And who is to say you didn’t draw it right when It is formless? Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? It is rewarding beyond imaging.
