Want to Be Relevant but Post Less?

I have built my career within the content creation land: podcasting and social media. However, the question begs to be asked: When did entrepreneurs also have to become influencers?

After taking one week off of social media, I learned that I can cut about 40% of my activity and still be relevant and successful. In my brief pause, I got crystal clear on so many things within my business. I canceled a launch that was not in alignment. I came up with a new revenue stream that makes sense. I got clear on my goals. I signed clients. I grew revenue.?

I remember reading Sophia Amoruso's book when I first willingly walked down the entrepreneurial path at the age of twenty-two and she said that social media is free advertising. I remember thinking about how powerful that was; how exciting that was. The bottomless pit of opportunity lived within the belly of the social media landscape. And then seven years of business happened to me and I realized: it's not free, is it??

Having a business and a personal brand on social media takes two of our most precious resources: time and energy. It takes them constantly, without mercy, without us even being conscious of how much of those beautiful resources we willingly zap into the digital.?

We need to have a conversation as entrepreneurs who understand the importance of having a digital personal brand on the internet. My digital brand has been a key factor to Scout's Agency's growth and I find immense happiness and fulfillment within my digital presence. I started asking myself: At what point does posting on social take our time and energy that our actual businesses need? At what point does posting on social media put our businesses at a disadvantage? At what point does it fuel us? At what point does it take away from our clarity??

?We need to show up with a clear message and purpose with ignition in our bellies and passion pouring from our hearts. Always remember: in a world of endless resources, content, and stimulation, we get to choose what serves us and what doesn't. We get to run our businesses and have a booming podcast and a viral Reel and also log off to enjoy the sunshine. We get to make that equation.? We just have to remember to be conscious of that equation.?
