The lure of the dream of working my own hours and creating a lifestyle career begun for me over 27 years ago. It had begun to get a little harder when I had my second child 28 years ago but the pain of being pulled from pillar to post was unbearable when child no 3 came around.

I LOVED working and my career, but it was getting near impossible to be torn into 15 different directions at the same time. Not to mention the childcare fees were eating up nearly half of my wage!

An unexpected invitation to photograph a family members wedding (another one, but this time it was a paid job) and I created my first lifestyle business. It was perfect for ME.

Fast forward to 2015 when I created my first course and sold it online. From scratch in under 12 months, I made a reasonably healthy 6 figure business. (This is not hard to do - in fact, what I'm about to share with you will show you - there are even easier ways)

What I quickly discovered, was everyone WANTS the dream but FEW understand exactly what it's going to take.

Most people underestimate the enormity of what they need to learn. My Renovating Houses for Profit (and my second and third lifestyle business) and course soon needed additional lessons to help my people go from an Employee Mindset to an Entrepreneurs Mindset. They taught me more about what they needed that I could have anticipated. Some people changed their minds and decided it wasn't for them. Others dived right in and 'LEAPT' into becoming entrepreneurs.

But here's the sneaky thing about 'creating a coaching/consulting business online? Your chances of doing it on your own are very slim. Because you have built-up momentum, no knowledge of 'how to' and beliefs that are not helpful especially if you are no longer passionate about your career or your life.

While ever you are feeling so tired that you are numb on the inside and your body is barely responding to the outside world so much so, that your mind is going crazy with anxiety.

You thought you'd do it on your own and you've realized that your knowledge and hanging around Facebook groups and trying every new marketing angle from the outside - in, is not the key to making money from your coaching/consulting business. If you've paid out money and you can't figure out why it wasn't successful or, you didn't get the delivery you feel you needed it was because the system you are attempting to implement is not the one needed to make your business grow. Information is everywhere. Transformation happens on the inside.

This time though, YOU are going to do it differently.

Because you're going to take this information and follow it to the letter. Ready?

  1. A ROCK SOLID BELIEF SYSTEM. This is imperative to your success. The actions we take every day are a result of 95% of our subconscious thinking. That means that consciously, you are making only 5% of thoughts that are not overridden by your beliefs. You will quickly learn that any doubt you have will be overshadowed by your motivational speech to yourself because your mind has been trained that way since birth. (If you want to learn more about that, I have FREE and low-cost training at the top of my LinkedIn profile). You should expect to fail. No -one became a 'master' quickly (don't believe everything you read on the internet kids) FIRST you learn to MASTER YOURSELF. A client said to me just today, "Once you realize what you don't know, you also realize its good to slow down and give yourself time to learn properly.". She's very clever. :-)
  2. A CLIENT AVATAR. It never ceases to amaze me that there are people who claim to be marketers who do not teach this very simple exercise. Without a client avatar clearly mapped out, you will 'spray a lot' but you will not get a lot of clients - least of all, high-paying clients. (You CAN have more than one avatar - but not until you learn how to sell to ONE client and have got reasonable results) Here are a few pointers: An avatar is a person (singular) who embodies your perfect customer: they are the person whom you are creating your business, your content, your services and your products for. This is so that you can write your copy to her exact pains and by definition, you will speak directly to what she needs.
  3. YOUR MESSAGE. This is an in-depth topic so I will do my best so that you understand the importance of this being accurate to your ideal avatar. The message must get straight to the point and take a customers viewpoint - Eg: "I teach women and men How to Renovate Houses for Profit". Each word can be broken down into EXACTLY how I can help MY client and they see immediately WHAT THEY WILL GAIN from working with me. You need to stop generalizing and start specializing to make big-ticket sales.
  4. YOUR SIGNATURE SYSTEM. The women and men I work with, are high achievers which mean they have brought with them years of experience in a particular area OR are high performing athletes and CEO's who bring specialized knowledge and are able to put together 5-6 figure consulting packages. Why? This will increase your odds very quickly of making money and getting people into your programs. Yes, there is more to learn particularly around coaching these people - they are headstrong leaders, so you must be able to bring your knowledge clearly to the table. If perchance you are re-training yourself into new specialized knowledge, expect the journey to be longer. (Your coach or mentor will be able to help you here)
  5. SALES SYSTEMS. How do you sell coaching? Especially your OWN programs! Every limiting belief you have will come flying to the surface if you have not done step 1. (above). Selling isn't something you do TO a prospect, it's something you do FOR your prospects. Learn a system that puts you in the driver's seat. Start with a script and then adjust as you get better. Expect to mess up sales calls - it's part of your learning. Not too many though - learn from your mistakes by recording your calls and playing them back.

You SHOULD have a life and business that is purposeful, meaningful, creative and on your terms because being burnout out, tired and hating Mondays is not fun. Monday's should be a reason to jump out of bed every day, enjoying your work and even leaving a legacy for your future generations.

Number 4 and 5 create the biggest challenges. It's hard to get out of your own head and gain clarity to articulate the value you know that you can provide. You want to make a difference, but to stand out in all the competing offers is an art form.?
