Want More Good Vibes at Work?

Want More Good Vibes at Work?

I’m a huge fan of nostalgia.

Whether it’s mine or someone else, the warmth, joy and positive vibes when we talk about nostalgic times in our lives make me happy.

But what is it about nostalgia that lifts our mood?

And is there a lesson we can apply today to create more positive vibes in our work lives?

Why yes there is…

It’s called simplicity.

How We Become Busy

Life is gets complicated as we grow up.

Our lives naturally fill with increasing responsibilities (school, job, family, friends) and with constant technological advancement we’ve all become more efficient freeing up new time gaps we fill with even more responsibilities.

The same applies to our work lives (perhaps on steroids!).

When you are getting those warm and fuzzy vibes of nostalgia thinking about a specific holiday or catching the whiff of a certain smell, what’s happening is you are thinking back on a simpler time in your life.

Times when you had space in your life to breathe and be present in the moment.

Life doesn’t have to be as complicated as we make it.

And neither does your work life.

Simplify Your (Work) Life

I spoke last week about knowing Why you work and What problems and/or challenges you are interested in solving (click here for article).

Your Why and What are the keys to simplifying your work life.

Once you know your Why/What you can knock unnecessary habits, roles, tasks out of your life that are a drag on your future nostalgia.

Some will find this is easy to do in their current work environment, while others will conclude they need to find a new work environment to thrive.

By simplifying your mission and purpose at work, you will create the time and space needed to create more of those warm fuzzy vibes nostalgia gives you.

And who doesn't want more of that?!

Well said, Roger. I am always telling my team and my family to keep it simple. Simple is better. You don't have to occupy every waking moment with something to do. Take a minute to breathe.
