Want The Master Brewer’s Perspective?
Gabe Arnold
I help established business owners create customized and effective marketing that help them scale customer acquisition and profits.
The newest addition in my small collection of scotch is a 14-year-old Oban.
In 2006, the master brewer of Scotland made a great batch.
He wasn’t in a rush.
He wasn’t selfish or shortsighted.
He didn’t post photos of himself on Instagram.
(That wasn’t created yet).
He didn’t complain.
He just stayed focused and did his work.
He carefully measured, kept things clean, and did the humble behind-the-scenes work that a master brewer does.
Today, in the midst of quarantine, his craft brings me enjoyment.
Recently, I heard someone complaining about how they’d lost all their clients and had to start over.
My heart goes out to that person.
Why? Because I’ve experienced it too.
It’s hard.
We don’t wish or plan for it.
But things happen. Experiences happen. But like the brewer, we press on.
Good things take time. Great things take decades.
In business and in life, all of us will face adversity.
It’s easier to face when you:
-Invest in relationships and value them over money
-Choose to believe in the goodness of humankind
-Take the long view
-Focus on the positive
-Do the hard work with love and grace
-Confront things head-on
Good things take time, and great things take decades.
The universe gave you this gift. You can react in two ways:
You can complain that you didn’t get the gift you wanted
OR
You can smile, be grateful, and realize that the Giver of All Gifts knows best.
You get to decide if you want to complain or plan like a master brewer with the proper measures of gratitude.
You get to decide. Choose wisely.
