Want to know your biggest trigger at work?

After 2 weeks of running our ‘What triggers me off’ diagnostic the news is in. There is one stand out. There is one trigger that does not even register for people as low. It’s everyone’s trigger to some degree but mostly it’s a high or medium one. It’s even mine. It’s the ‘Delivery Trigger’.

This trigger is not just how people speak to us. It could be being spoken to with an angry tone, condescendingly, or even too quietly. It could be that it is just being spoken at, as a stream of consciousness. Non-friggin’-stop. Oh yeah, that might be mine.

It’s also the medium people use. When we decide that the conversation should be just that. A conversation. Yet it is done as a text, an email, or even a comment on socials. How dare they communicate with me that way.

So the Delivery Trigger is massive for us. And when we are triggered by this, what this means, for us, is that our nervous system either shuts down or arks up and we are no longer listening. We are in survival. So the chances of things moving forward in a healthy way are dramatically limited.

If you want to change the pattern. Of how you respond. Of how you react. Then knowing this is important. Deeply. Because it’s your trigger. It’s your thing to work through. I’m not saying how they are communicating with you is ok. I am saying that you have much more power than you think. But when we lose ourselves to the trigger it’s like being caught in a rip. And you know what they say about rips right?! Don’t fight against them. It will tire you out and get you nowhere.

If you want to take the ‘What Triggers Me Off’ diagnostic before we go into the silly season and spend more time with family – then it might be helpful. Just saying.
