Want to Infuse Storytelling into Your Content?

Here’s How to Start Every Story...

Every good story starts with one thing: a clear goal.

Before you write a single word, ask yourself:

  • What’s the purpose of this story?
  • Do I want to teach, inspire, or share an idea?

If you can’t answer these questions, your story won’t hit the mark.

My Process: Always Start with the Goal

The goal is the foundation of every story. Here’s how I think about it:

“What will this story do to my audience?”

Let’s say you’re launching a new book. Your goal is to make sales.

But for that to happen, your story needs to show the value of knowledge.

Find a Story Worth Sharing

This is where most people get stuck. The good news? You already have the stories—you just need to find them.

Take a moment. Go back into your memories.

Look for moments where something you learned changed everything—or where not knowing something cost you big.

Here’s an example:

Three years ago, my business was on the verge of collapse. The problem? I didn’t know how to generate leads.

No new customers were coming in, and I was bleeding money fast. Every day felt like a losing battle, and I started wondering if I should just give up.

Then, a friend handed me a book by Alex Hormozi (100M Offers).

That book taught me how to attract customers and create offers they couldn’t resist. I put the principles into action, and things began to change.

In no time, I started making sales, and turning my business around. All it took was the right information at the right moment to transform everything.

Make the Goal Crystal Clear

In this story, the goal is obvious: to show the life-changing value of knowledge.

When you tie your story to your goal, you’re not just sharing—you’re guiding your audience to take action.

Andrew Stanton says it perfectly:

“Storytelling is knowing that everything you are saying is leading to a singular goal.”

Key Takeaways for You

  • Always start with a goal. Every story needs one purpose.
  • Dig into your experiences. The best stories come from real moments in your life.
  • Connect your story to your audience. Make the purpose clear—don’t leave them guessing.

Storytelling isn’t just about entertaining people; it’s about moving them.

It’s about helping them see possibilities they didn’t see before.

Nicely said ?? A story without a clear goal feels like a journey without direction—engaging, but lacking the impact that comes from purpose-driven storytelling. Clarity transforms narratives into powerful tools for connection and growth.
