Want to get the answers you need? Ask the correct questions correctly

Modern technology and tools make it a lot easier than before to conduct internal and external surveys relying on internal resources or personnel.

However, designing or planning a survey is a lot trickier than some might think and actually requires expertise if one wishes to avoid using mediocre surveys which will yield mediocre results.

Here are some of the more common mistakes that make surveys miss their mark:

·        Asking a question that addresses more than one issue

·        Asking questions in a biased wording that affects participants' answers

·        Using wrong answer options for different questions

·        Asking participants to fill questionnaires that are too long

Naturally there are a lot more potholes in the way to the perfect survey, but one should always bear in mind that in order to get the required answers, the correct questions should be asked correctly.
